Angel Lozano is a cruiserweight boxer from Los Angeles who has been drafted in to help Logan Paul prepare for his crunch fight with the legendary Floyd Mayweather next month.
Lozano has spoken exclusively to Marc Gatford for MyBettingSites.co.uk, revealing that Logan Paul has given him a black eye in sparring sessions – and that the only other person to ever do that is a former world champion boxer!
Lozano also says:
- “Floyd Mayweather is keeping people guessing about rule changes until the last minute – we don’t know what to expect”
- “Floyd will be surprised by Logan Paul’s movement, he is really hard to hit and moves like a smaller guy”
- “The best chance Logan has is to go for a knockout and that he believes he can win”
- “Logan drafted me in because I keep him honest – if he makes a mistake, I hit him”
- “I have also sparred Jake Paul and he for sure has a chance against Conor McGregor in the boxing ring – but Logan is a better boxer”
Angel Lozano: “Logan Paul left me with a black eye the first time we sparred – only one other person has given me one and it was a world champion!”
“Logan has got some power for sure, he left me a little black eye the first time we sparred, he left me a little shiner. He caught me and I was pretty surprised. I’ve only ever had one other fighter leave me a black eye and he was world champion Gilberto Ramirez! He got some pop for sure and he can take a punch too, he’s become more composed after taking a shot.
“He’s working on going in there and really making Floyd uncomfortable, going in there and making it a bit of rough, bump him up a bit. Don’t give him no room to breathe basically. You start making Mayweather comfortable and he’s going to start having fun in there.
“Logan’s movement for sure will be a big factor, he’s got a good jab and heart. Floyd is going to be surprised by his ability to move, for being as big as he is he’s really hard to hit. He’s really coordinated and moves like a smaller guy. It will be interesting to see what happens in the clinch, when he was sparring some guys around Mayweather’s weight, some of them were easy for him to move around.”
Angel Lozano: “Logan is going for a knockout – he believes he can win”
“Logan is going for a knockout, it’s the best chance he has – you can’t outbox Floyd Mayweather. He has a better chance of landing one big shot than actually going in there and trying to box Mayweather. Mayweather has been in with the best, every style – it won’t be hard for him to adjust.
“Logan knows who Floyd Mayweather is and what he’s accomplished. Logan has said a couple of times: ‘You’ve got a Youtuber versus the best fighter on the planet – how am I going to beat this guy?’
“He’s said it a couple of times as a joke. He knows what he’s getting himself into, he’s done some wrestling before so he knows the fight game. But Logan is coming to actually win. He believes can win. He’s really working hard and he’s going to do what he can to try and win this.”
Angel Lozano: “Floyd keeps people guessing about rule changes until the last minute – we don’t know what to expect”
“The team discussed the size of gloves before, they really don’t know what to expect from this guy Floyd. Floyd Mayweather is that type of guy to keep people guessing to the last minute then he’s going to start making moves.
“I think Logan will weigh around 190-195 pounds in the ring and Floyd will come in around 160, but who knows there could be a weight limit because no way Floyd will want him to come in that heavy. Floyd won’t want him to use [his weight] as an advantage and put on a lot of muscle and lean as much weight as he can on him; they are just waiting to see what happens.”
Angel Lozano: “Logan drafted me in because I keep him honest – if he makes a mistake, I hit him”
“I think what they liked about me was how I react on Logan because a lot of the big guys they were bringing in weren’t really reacting to him, they were just kind of sparring with him and I’ve been giving him an honest look.
“If he made a mistake I would hit him. And he’s actually really good, he’s pretty sharp. He’s definitely showing improvements and he’s really dedicated. But it’s a whole different game when you’re going against the one of the greatest fighters ever. He knows he has nothing to lose, he’s going to go all out.”
Angelo Lozano: “I’ve also sparred Jake Paul and he for sure has a chance against Conor McGregor in the boxing ring”
“In a boxing ring Jake has a chance against Conor McGregor for sure. Jake is confident and he just needs to keep working on his skills. He’s not ready for Conor yet, but if he trains for his style he could be ready for Mcgregor.
“But McGregor is a bad man too, Conor has some boxing skills. I think the plan is to fight Conor but that fight gets made after he’s fought the guy Dillon Danis first.”
Angel Lozano: “Logan is the better boxer of the two brothers”
“Jake has got some skills, but he’s more of a brawler while Logan is more of a boxer. I’ve sparred both and Logan is a better boxer.”
