Who Are the Favourites With Bookmakers to Win the World Cup?

Bookmakers have Brazil down as favourites to win the World Cup.

They’re priced at 5.00. That gives them a 20% probability chance of winning according to our odds to probability tool.

Brazil should make it out of the group stages top, with Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia to contend with. They will be looking to overcome the humiliation of their 7-1 defeat at the last World Cup to Germany, and there is no doubt that they have the talent to do so. Dani Elves has been ruled out, but with Gabriel Jesus will have his first tournament, and established stars such as Neymar, it’s no surprise that bookmakers think they will do well in the summer.

What Were England’s Chances of Winning Before the Tournament?

England fans have become more realistic in recent years about England’s chances of winnings.

Past tournaments, it’s fair to say fans had unrealistic expectations his always put a lot of pressure on the players.

For the 2018 World Cup this summer, things are a little different. There is less of the hype. Qualification for the tournament was solid. There were no outstanding performances or memorable styles of play, but England got the job done.

Bookmakers England priced at 19.00 before the tournament started. That gave a 5% chance. If you bet £10 on England to win the World Cup, you could potentially have won £180.

A generous draw meant an easier path to the quarterfinals. There was a 55% chance that should have happened. England hasn’t reached the semifinals since 1990, and this time round bookmakers had it down as a 25% chance of happening.

So in short, bookmakers reckoned England will make it to the quarterfinals, and then be knocked out. A familiar story.
