The 2026 Ryanair Chase is shaping up to be an absolute thriller today, and it is impossible to look past the red-hot defending champion, Fact To File. Trained by Willie Mullins and owned by JP McManus, this spectacular nine-year-old arrives at Prestbury Park as the heavy favourite to retain his crown.

He boasts an impeccable Festival pedigree, having won the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase in 2024 before utterly demolishing last year’s Ryanair field by a staggering nine lengths. Connections made the calculated decision to target this 2-mile 4½-furlong intermediate test again instead of stretching him out for Friday’s Gold Cup, which looks to be a shrewd move considering he recently cruised to a magnificent Grade 1 victory at the Dublin Racing Festival.
