In this Matchbook review, our team of experts examines the popular online sportsbook platform and what it offers. While the bookmaker also operates an online casino, we’ll focus mainly on its sportsbook.

We give you our honest Matchbook opinion, highlighting its latest deals and how you can benefit from them. To make things easier for you, we’ve laid out a brief overview of the sportsbook and its features below. Let’s find out how this bookmaker fairs in our Matchbook review.

Welcome Bonuses – 1/5

At the time of this Matchbook review, the bookmaker had no welcome bonuses available. For this reason, we examine the last welcome promotion and also briefly check out its casino offers.

These promotions are usually a fantastic way to start your bankroll. We highly recommend you take some time to consider claiming a reward when you register a new account.

Sportsbook Welcome Promotion

Our Matchbook review team investigated the most recent welcome promotion available. This offer took the form of a risk-free bet of up to £30. In comparison to other bookies, this promotion doesn’t compete well. However, there is still value in claiming it.

This bonus consisted of a £15 lay bet and a £15 back bet. Like all promotions, this offer came with conditions that you needed to fulfil before obtaining your winnings. For starters, you needed to make your first deposit using a bank card as e-wallet services didn’t qualify.

Another condition the provider put in place was the need to wager your two bets on different markets. If you lost your bet, Matchbook would refund you the full amount in bonus credit. Additionally, you had seven days to meet the wagering requirements, which is five times your initial deposit amount.

Casino Regular Promotions

Existing players have the option of claiming a few regular promotions too. Unfortunately, the operator currently focuses purely on its casino promotions. We take you through these bonuses and shed light on how you can benefit from them.

First, you can claim a regular Matchbook bonus awarding a 50% match on your bet when you play Monopoly. You’ll need to buy-in for a minimum of £20, and you can place a maximum bet of £2 each time. The wagering requirements for this reward states that you must wager the full amount 30 times before drawing any winnings.

Another regular opportunity our Matchbook review team found was a slot bonus. This promotion gives you an extra 50% in additional funds when you buy-in for £50. To fulfil the requirements, you can only play slots and can place a maximum bet of £1 each time.

The third option found by our Matchbook review team comes in the form of a slot reload bonus. You’ll receive an additional £25 when you buy-in for £50. Once you’ve wagered your buy-in amount thirty times, you can draw any winnings. Furthermore, you’ll have thirty days to use your bonus funds before they expire.

If you’re a fan of Red Tiger slots, then this promotion is for you. The operator is giving you an extra £10 when you wager £20 on any of the software developers slot titles. Again the wagering requirements state that you must bet your initial amount thirty times. Also, you can only place a maximum bet of £1 each time.

While the provider has a few regular bonuses for casino players, it fails to entice any new players to its sportsbook. Our Matchbook review team eagerly awaits the next sportsbook welcome offer, and hope it provides one with more value.

Betting markets / Available Sports – 3/5

The operator gives you access to a wide variety of sports betting markets, each with competitive Matchbook odds. While a few other bookmakers provide a more substantial variety than the operator, it still has an excellent selection.

The bookmaker lists its popular markets first, followed by a complete list of sports on the left of your screen. At the time of this Matchbook review, our team found 17 different markets for you to choose from. These sports markets are:

  • American Football
  • Australian Rules Football
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Darts
  • Golf
  • Greyhound Racing
  • Horse Racing
  • Ice Hockey
  • Mixed Martial Arts
  • Politics
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

You’ll also have access to a wide range of betting markets for each sport. Our Matchbook review team found markets such outright winners, Asian handicap and over/under. If sports betting isn’t for you, the bookmaker also provides betting on politics and entertainment events.

One feature that makes this provider stand out from the crowd is its peer-to-peer betting exchange. There are no wagering limits since you don’t play against the house. This is an advantage for high rollers as you can bet thousands of pounds if you wanted to.

Matchbook odds – 4/5

When it comes to Matchbook odds, the bookmaker provides some of the most competitive prices around. This is thanks to its exceptionally low commission rate compared to other sportsbooks in the UK. The operator charges you a 1.15% commission on winning bets.

To give you an idea of the Matchbook odds, our team of experts have picked out a game randomly. We look at the upcoming Community Shield soccer match in England, between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Liverpool is the favourites for this match, providing odds of 1.7 if they win. In contrast, Arsenal offers long odds to win, currently sitting at 5.0. Additionally, the Matchbook odds are at 4.3 in the event of a tie.

If you were to place a wager of £10 on this match and your prediction is correct, your winnings are as follows:

  • Liverpool win: £17
  • Arsenal win: £50
  • Tie: £43

Matchbook’s odds for football are slightly better than competitive sites if not similar. This is the same for other sports markets too, such as baseball, golf and tennis. We can only attribute these favourable Matchbook odds to the fact that the provider awards you extra value by charging lower commissions.

Streaming and Live Betting on Matchbook – 4/5

When it comes to Matchbook live streaming, you have access to an abundance of in-play betting markets. The entire section is separate from the traditional sports markets and has a few cool features.

The entire Matchbook live streaming section is customisable, allowing you to select how you see the prices and markets. It starts by listing the current events followed by upcoming matches. This enables you to plan your day of in-play betting, making the most of the betting opportunities.

Matchbook live streaming odds continue its trend, providing you with favourable offers on matches, compared to similar sportsbooks. Another impressive feature you may enjoy comes in the form of watching any of the event listed live.

To access the  Matchbook live streaming services, you’ll first need to deposit money into your account. Furthermore, the site doesn’t only stream sports events. You’ll also find popular television shows that you can stake real money on, like Strictly Come Dancing.

If that’s not enough, the provider also features a virtual sports section. The fast-paced and exciting world of fantasy betting provides added excitement. You can take part in the following virtual sports markets:

  • Virtual Football
  • Virtual Horse racing
  • Virtual Greyhound racing
  • Virtual Tennis
  • Virtual Speedway
  • Virtual Trotting races
  • Virtual Velodrome

One thing our Matchbook review team discovered is betting on any virtual sports market is not regulated by the AGCC. This is because these markets fall out of the jurisdiction of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. You also can’t watch any virtual matches without first depositing funds to your account.

Regardless of whether you choose to use the virtual sports or live-streaming features, you’ll need a stable internet connection. This is to avoid any delays or quality issues with the stream.

Matchbook Mobile App – 4/5

The operator has thought in-depth about its mobile customers, providing both a mobile app and a mobile responsive website. If you prefer the mobile version, you won’t have to worry about any limitations as far as features go.

Compatibility

The mobile responsive site works best with chrome or safari web browsers. Additionally, like the desktop version, you’ll need the latest version of Flash Player installed.

As for the dedicated mobile app, the site offers an application on both iOS and Android devices. You’ll also need to enable your location service on your phone for the app to work. Below we take you through the necessary installation instructions for each device.

Android Device

  • Search for the Matchbook mobile app in the Google Play Store.
  • Select the correct option and confirm its installation
  • You’ll need a connection to either Wifi or 3G/4G networks.

iOS Device

  • Launch the App Store and search for the Matchbook mobile app.
  • Select the install option and fill in your Apple ID and password.
  • Once the download finishes, you’ll find the app on your home screen.
  • Similarly, it recommends you have a wifi or 3G/4G internet connection.

Graphics / User-Friendliness

The mobile site offers the same robust design as its desktop counterpart. It has a similar layout to the PC version, allowing for quick and easy use. Our Matchbook review team rate the app as one of the best in the industry.

You’ll find the sports markets available on the right-hand side of your screen. Also, you’ll see a collapsable menu where you can navigate to the appropriate section. Moreover, placing a bet is effortless, incorporating the touch mechanics of smartphones beautifully.

Features

What makes the mobile version so impressive is its list of features. For starters, you’ll have access to the same features on your phone as you would on your desktop. Furthermore, you can use the live streaming feature and in-play betting markets.

The operator also provides mobile customer support, meaning you can rest assured someone will assist you if you ever get stuck. Plus, its payment process is just as efficient as the desktop version. You have the option of depositing or withdrawing funds to your account using your phone.

Thanks to its all-in-one platform, downloading the mobile app will also allow you to access the casino. The bookmaker’s mobile app is one to consider if you plan on betting on the go.

ProsCons
The mobile app supports both iOS and Android devicesMust enable the location service for the mobile app to work
No limitation on features

Matchbook Payment Options – 3/5

You’ll find a good list of payment methods available. Currently, the bookmaker gives you a choice of the following services:

  • Visa Debit
  • Mastercard
  • Skrill
  • Neteller
  • Paysafecard
  • Bank Transfer

There’s a minimum deposit limit of £5 for every option listed above except for Neteller, requiring a minimum of £10. You also have a maximum limit per transaction. The maximum deposit amount for bank cards is £20,000 and £37,500 when using Neteller. Additionally, all deposit options have an instant processing time.

The operator follows a strict closed-loop policy for its payment services, which means you must use the same method for both deposits and withdrawals. The bookmaker is not transparent with its withdrawal limits. However, if you use Mastercard, you can only withdraw the same amount as you deposited.

Once you’ve submitted a withdrawal claim, the sportsbook typically processes it within six hours. After this time, your respective method takes over. E-wallets take a few minutes to reflect while bank cards take between three and five days.

The sportsbook doesn’t charge you any additional fees on transactions. Also, you have the option of selecting your chosen currency. You’ll find that the provider accepts payments in the following currencies:

  • USD
  • EUR
  • GBP
  • CAD
  • AUD
  • HKD

The operator also has a deposit limit feature if you’d like to monitor your spending activity. You can set a deposit limit for the day, the week and even the month. You can decrease this amount at any time by visiting your profile settings. On the other hand, if you choose to increase the limit, you’ll need to contact customer support.

Customer Care – 3/5

If at any point, you run into an issue or require assistance, you can contact customer support via three different options.

The first method is a live chat feature available between 8 am and 10 pm GMT between Monday and Thursday. Furthermore, it stays open until midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Our Matchbook review team recommends this method as you receive the quickest reply times.

Next, you can call one of its support staff via your phone. The call centre is open during the same times as the live chat feature. Additionally, there is a separate number for UK residents.

The other option comes in the form of an email. This method provides 24/7 assistance, but you’ll need to wait for a reply, which can take up to an hour. Also, the operator doesn’t indicate whether it supports any additional languages besides English.

Alternatively, you could try and solve your problem independently using the sportsbooks FAQ section. Here you’ll find answers to common questions along with helpful steps.

Our Verdict – 3/5

Overall, our Matchbook review team found the entire platform impressive except for a few minor setbacks. Generally, the bookmaker offers a reliable and trustworthy platform for its customers, regardless of your chosen device.

You have access to a decent amount of sports markets as well as a comprehensive in-play betting feature. The added benefit of a live-streaming function and your ability to wager on virtual sports is a definite advantage.

The operator falls short when it comes to its welcome promotion for sportsbook users. Similarly, its regular casino promotions also don’t add much value, especially when you compare them to competitors.

Furthermore, its limited payment options and unclear terms make it frustrating to use. We hope to see more payment methods added in the future, giving players more convenience. As a result, our Matchbook review team rates the operator an average grade of three out of five.
