A Lucky 15 consists of 15 bets involving 4 selections in different events. The Lucky 15 bet includes 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, and 1 four-fold.
Lucky 15 bets are a popular way to bet on many sports, but most notably on horse racing. People who fancy four selections to win four separate events can combine them in this way, safe in the knowledge they’ll receive some sort of return if even one of the selections is correct.

How does a Lucky 15 bet work?
When you place a Lucky 15 bet, you are placing 15 bets on four different selections. A £1 win-only Lucky 15 bet would, therefore, cost a total of £15.
The amount won from a Lucky 15 bet depends on the number of selections that win – and the odds of each one. Because a Lucky 15 bet contains single bets, only one win from the four selections is required for a return on the bet. It is highly unlikely that if only one selection wins, the original stake is covered.
The 15 bets consist of four singles, six doubles four trebles and a fourfold accumulator. The diagram below shows a win-only Lucky 15 bet and each of the bets within it. Bets 1 to 4 consist of singles. Bets 5 to 10 consist of the doubles. Bets 10 to 14 consist of the trebles. The final 15th bet is the accumulator.

Lucky 15 Bet Calculator step-by-step guide
Let’s use the Lucky 15 calculator to work out the winnings of a bet. We won’t be betting each way, although you can add that to your calculations here if required.
- Choose which odds format you are using
- Select the outcomes of the four races – and the odds of your horse
- Confirm whether there are any bookmaker bonuses attributed to this bet
- Choose whether your stake is per bet or combined – and what that stake is
- Your total outlay, return and profit will automatically be calculated
As an example, if you had chosen your horses at 1/1, 1/1, 5/2 and 10/1 and they had all won on a £1 per bet stake your total outlay would be £14, your total return would be £485 and your total profit would be £470.
If all the details were the same but your 10/1 horse lost your total outlay would still be £15, but your total returns would be £39.50 and your total profit would be £24.50.

What are the advantages of a Lucky 15 Bet?
A benefit of the Lucky 15 is that it vastly diversifies the risk of one selection losing within a multiple bet. A traditional accumulator is lost when just one selection doesn’t win. If you’re more confident the majority of your selections will win, then a Lucky 15 will increase your chances of a positive return on your stake. Plus with the four single bets, an advantage is that it is a higher stake, higher reward bet.
From a different perspective, the disadvantage of a Lucky 15 bet is the stake required. With 15 bets, the cost of placing a Lucky 15 can be very high. You need to consider if the increased chance of winning is worth this higher stake.
Is it possible to place an Each Way Lucky 15?
Yes. Each way Lucky 15 bets consist of 30 bets. Half of the bets are to win, as above in the image. The 15 extra bets in each way bets are for the selections to place.
We have another article that explains how each way bets work in more detail.
For example, we did a Lucky 15 Each Way bet on William Hill which can be seen below:
What is the difference between a Lucky 15 and a Yankee?
Yankee bets also feature four selections, but there is a key difference that might be quite easy to work out! A Lucky 15 has 15 bets. In contrast, a Yankee has 11.
A Lucky 15 bet includes all the 11 bets in the image above but features an additional four bets. These four additional bets are four singles, one for each of the selections. This will increase the size of the stake, but also increases the size of the return if all four were to win.
Lucky 15 betting offers
There aren’t too many betting sites that are offering a Lucky 15 bonus to their bettors, but Betfred are one of the few that do at this moment in time, so read on if you’re keen to find out about what they have to offer punters placing a Lucky 15 bet.
Betfred Lucky 15 betting offer
The Betfred offer is a little different and is something we’re more keen to take advantage of. With some offers, you’ll need to get a few winners to receive the bonus. But with Betfred, it’s more of an insurance. If you only get one winner in your Lucky 15 bet, then you’ll get 3, 4 or 5 times the odds of your winning selection. It works with the following:
- 5 x the Odds on Lucky 63s
- 4 x the Odds on Lucky 31s
- 3 x the Odds on Lucky 15s
The offer is available to both new and existing customers and is a no-brainer if you do regular bets such as these. Find out more on our page for the Betfred bonus code.
- Hugely attractive new customer welcome offer, offering £50 in bonuses
- Popular Double Delight promo offers great value on goalscorer bets
Lucky 15 Bet FAQs
With a Lucky 15 bet, you have 15 different bets which are across 4 selections. You have 4 single bets, 6 doubles, 4 trebles and also a 4-fold acca. If one of these single selections wins, then you will receive some money, but you need all to win in order to receive the full total return.
If one of your bets/selections in a Lucky 15 bet win then you are able to receive some money. 1 Winner can cause you to be paid out, even if the rest of your Lucky 15 loses, you just won’t receive the full amount.
If one horse becomes a non runner after you place your Lucky 15, then your bet will still be placed with the other three selections/horses that you have decided to bet on. This means that you will still be able to receive some winnings should the other 3 horses win their race.
There is one difference for an each-way Lucky 15 bet. The difference is that your total stake will be doubled, like a normal each-way bet, in order to cover the place part of each bet. If you place £2 on a normal Lucky 15 bet, your stake will be £30, if you place £2 on an each-way Lucky 15 bet your stake will be £60.
Lucky 15 bets can be worth it, as there is a lot of money to be potentially won; however, it’s typically for bettors with a slightly larger betting budget, as you’re covering yourself with lots of different combinations of bets. They are also a little bit harder to win due to the sheer amount of selections involved. As always, do gamble responsibly and only use funds that you can afford to lose, as there aren’t any guarantees in betting that you will win.
