Willie Mullins Headliners

Final Demand – 13:15 in the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle

The 30/1 Paddy Power offer could land within the first race at Leopardstown, as Willie Mullins trains the four shortest-priced horses in this race, and so you’d like to think that one of those will come out on top in the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle.

Final Demand is the favourite in this race, and that’s not too surprising to see. The 6-year-old won by 11 lengths at Limerick in late December, which made it two wins from two so far. There’s still plenty of room for improvement, and we’re expecting to see another positive performance from them in this one.

Majborough – 14:55 in the Irish Arkle Novice Chase

Majborough is a real talent, and is another Willie Mullins horse that is likely to have a big future ahead of them. Three wins from four races makes for hugely impressive viewing, and you can see exactly why there’s plenty of hype heading into the Irish Arkle Novice Chase. They’ve beaten Kargese on two occasions, and followed that up with a win at Fairyhouse under Mark Walsh, who certainly seems to be getting the best out of this horse.

It would be a surprise to see the Paddy Power 30/1 Willie Mullins offer not land by the time of this race, as he’s got plenty of favourites in races before the Irish Arkle Novice Chase, but if it does get this far, Majborough should wrap things up rather comfortably.

Galopin Des Champs – 15:30 in the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup

Willie Mullins will be looking to see a positive performance from Galopin Des Champs in this one, in what is likely to be his last run before the 2025 Cheltenham Festival. The 9-year-old is the current holder of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, as he made it back-to-back wins in that race, to retain his crown. After a 207-day break, he returned to action at Punchestown in November, where he was beaten by Fact To File. However, that sluggish performance was quickly forgotten, as Galopin Des Champs cruised home to a seven length victory ahead of Fact To File at Leopardstown in late December.

This horse is all class, and is unsurprisingly the favourite to win the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup this year at Leopardtown. He’s familiar with the track, and should get the better of the likes of Fact To File, Embassy Gardens, and Monty’s Star if anywhere near his best.
