Villans unlikely to go down without a fight
PSG outplayed Liverpool in the last-16 when they travelled to the French capital, but the Reds somehow got out with a 1-0 victory.
Luis Enrique’s side had 71 per cent possession in that contest, 10 shots on target and an xG figure of 1.82, compared to one shot on target for Arne Slot’s side.
They avenged that loss with a 1-0 victory at Anfield before winning through on penalties, though it was hard to fathom how the net bulged just once on Merseyside given the amount of chances created by both teams.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have been a mixed bag on the road in Europe this season. They’ve won three times, scoring nine goals, but also succumbed to 1-0 losses against Club Brugge and Monaco.
The defeat to Liverpool was PSG’s second at home in the competition this year, though impressive wins over Manchester City (4-2) and Brest (7-0) were sandwiched in between those losses here against Atletico Madrid and the Reds.
Saturday’s win against Angers secured back-to-back Ligue 1 titles for PSG and it appears that Enrique has them ready to peak at the right time.
There is more resilience about his side now and with Kylian Mbappe departed for Real Madrid, there appears to be more cohesion, too.
Villa are in fine form, winning their last four away games, but they may come unstuck despite getting on the scoresheet in Paris as Emery returns to face his former employers.

Goals to flow at the Parc des Princes
Continuing with the theme of goals, over 3.5 goals in this contest appeals. As noted, Villa have scored three times in three separate Champions League away games this season.
They will be hemmed in for long spells by this PSG side, but Villa’s pace on the counter will give them the best possible chance to make the most of their retaliatory attacks.
Prior to that loss here against Liverpool, the home side had rattled in 11 goals in two Champions League home ties.
In domestic action they have recorded wins over 4-1 against Monaco, 4-1 against Lille and 3-1 against Marseille here in three of their last four games.

Dembele can be key for the hosts
Ousmane Dembele has scored 24 goals in 20 appearances in 2025 for his club, while he also netted for France in their Nations League win over Croatia last month.
The 27-year-old is in scintillating form and already has seven Champions League goals to his name this term. With PSG expected to dominate, he’ll get chances to add to that tally and is tipped to do so as the first leg of this bet builder.
Morgan Rogers opened the scoring as Villa beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday and has six goals and four assists in his last 14 appearances in all competitions.
The England international has three goals and three assists so far in his maiden Champions League season and can at least get a shot on target in Paris.
If Villa are to bring some kind of positive result back to Birmingham for the second leg, expect goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to play his part.
Alisson made no less than 10 saves in Liverpool’s win here last month and added seven more at Anfield in the second leg.
The Argentinian World Cup winner is a man for the big occasion and they haven’t yet come much bigger than this in his time at Villa. He can make at least five saves to complete the bet builder.
