Liverpool to continue to dominate

Liverpool have won the last three meetings between themselves and Chelsea, and they’re more than likely to pick up another victory over the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Arne Slot’s side won 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Anfield, and have improved since then, so it seems as though Chelsea will be in for a tough evening ahead if the Reds are anywhere near their best.

Liverpool have won their last three matches, which included a 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur, where the Reds were ruthless in front of goal. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Luiz Diaz, and Cody Gakpo were all on the scoresheet in that win, and will fancy their chances of adding to their goal tally this weekend.

Chelsea certainly haven’t been at their best in recent months, and have struggled for consistency, which has seen them fall into the pack that are chasing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season. The Blues could be pushed onto the back foot relatively quickly here, especially considering Liverpool will be well-rested compared to them, with Enzo Maresca’s side travelling to Sweden to take on Djurgaden on Thursday evening.

When Chelsea take on Liverpool, there are usually plenty of cards shown. This claim is backed up by the fact that there’s been over 4.5 cards in the match between both teams in four of the last five meetings.

However, for much of the second-half of the 2024/25 season, both of these teams haven’t had many cards in their respective league matches. Chelsea’s matches have had under 4.5 cards in five of their last six, whilst Liverpool’s last ten matches have had under 4.5 cards.

With not much to play for from Liverpool’s side, we can’t see them forcing the issue as much, and therefore, this should lead to a quieter day for the referee at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Liverpool have hit high numbers of shots in their recent Premier League matches, and have had at least 14 attempts in their last six games in the top-flight of English football.

They had 25 shots in total against Tottenham Hotspur last time out, and considering Chelsea haven’t been at their best defensively in the second-half of this year’s campaign, it could be difficult for them to stop the attacking talent that Arne Slot has available to him.
