Blades can secure first leg lead
Sheffield United may feel aggrieved at having to go through the play-offs but they can gain the upper hand in their semi-final by defeating Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Finishing on 90 points was a fantastic effort from the south Yorkshire side, who had seriously struggled in the Premier League last season, losing 28 of 38 games.
The Blades found Championship football much more to their liking and their final away points tally (43) was one more than champions, Leeds.
Chris Wilder’s side posted 13 away league wins, including last November’s 2-1 victory over Bristol City, and will be hopeful of achieving a similar result this week.
Bristol City’s presence in the play-offs is more of a surprise and came about despite a drop off in performance in recent weeks.
Liam Manning’s side took just one point from their last three games but squeezed into the top six at the expense of Millwall and Blackburn, who finished two points worse off.
However, the Robins were far from convincing in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to relegation-threatened Preston and may struggle to avoid a first-leg loss to a Sheffield United side determined to regain top flight status at the first attempt.

Talented Tyrese can trouble the Robins
Sheffield United have utilised several strikers this season, including Tyrese Campbell, who has had the best campaign of his career.
Campbell is a fan favourite among Blades’ fans and has reached 10 league goals for the first time in his career.
The 25-year-old had a purple patch in March, scoring four goals in five matches, but has been quieter in recent weeks.
However, Campbell has the skillset to light up a big occasion and looks an overpriced 13/5 shot to notch in Bristol.

Robust Ross could increase his card count
Lively wingback Ross McCrorie has had a positive season for Bristol City and came to their rescue at the weekend with a couple of goals in the 2-2 draw against Preston.
However, the Scot tends to pick up more cautions than goals and is a strong candidate to enter referee Oliver Langford’s notebook.
McCrorie could have plenty of defending to do against a potent Sheffield United side.
United have a lot of exciting attackers, including Gus Hamer, who tops their assist charts with seven.
Hamer has also netted nine goals and may provide a key moment in the West Country.
As the away side Sheffield United could be forgiven for trying to keep things tight.
However, they tend to approach every game with a winning mentality and look capable of bagging at least two goals.
