After correctly calling the first two home in Friday’s Oaks, our tipster is full of confidence heading into the Derby.
It’s run over the same course and distance as the Oaks and Aidan O’Brien will be aiming to earn a sixth Derby win in the last decade. Charlie Appleby and Ralph Beckett are arguably best placed to stop him and the race is full of international flavour this year.

Epsom Derby betting tips
2000 Guineas vs Derby trial form
The main point of contention ahead of the Derby is whether or not the trial form takes precedence over the 2000 Guineas form or vice versa. Ruling Court won the 2000 Guineas and will be bidding to follow up and he’ll be joined by the horse who finished behind him in fourth, Tornado Alert.
Dante winner Pride Of Arras remains very lightly raced and has a significant amount of scope for further improvement. The Lion In Winter will be seeking to recover from a below-par display behind Pride Of Arras and he won’t be helped by a terrible draw.
French raiders Midak and New Ground provide an interesting angle and the former is definitely the more likely candidate of the two. Damysus was runner-up in the Dante and Chester vase winner Lambourn is surely capable of running a big race.
Stanhope Gardens was a neck behind Delacroix in a Group 3 at Newmarket as a two-year-old and he won an average race, albeit in good style at Salisbury last month. He’s available at a decent price and could surprise a few if improving again.
Delacroix shows all the right signs
Aidan O’Brien is the man to follow in the Derby and he holds the all-time record with 10 victories. DELACROIX has been picked by Ryan Moore and it seems very likely that he’s Ballydoyle’s best chance of winning again this year.
He was a highly promising and progressive two-year-old and was a nose away from winning the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster on his final start of the season.
The performance definitely indicated that middle-distances would suit this year and his 2025 form agrees.
O’Brien won the Derby with Galileo and High Chapparal in the early 2000s and they won both the Ballsax Stakes and the Leopardstown Derby trial en route to doing so.
Delacroix has managed to win both trials impressively this season and is very much the one to beat on that evidence.
Epsom Derby Betting Tip 1: Selection: Delacroix @ 5/2 with BetMGM
- Welcome offer gives new customers more free bets than most
- Profit boosts and free football predictors are part of a host of attractive offers
Tennessee Stud looks massively overpriced
Joseph O’Brien runs TENNESSEE STUD here and the Group 1 winner may have been unfairly overlooked here. It was obvious from his two-year-old form that he was a potential candidate and may even want further in the future.
Connections sent him to France for a 1m2f Group 1 on his last start at two and he got the better of two rivals, seeing the trip out well on heavy ground.
Third behind Delacroix on seasonal debut, he’ll improve significantly for that run and the step up to 1m4f will help too.
Epsom Derby Betting Tip 2: Next Best: Tennessee Stud @ 33/1 with bet365
