Betting sites have been forced to re-open betting on Bryan Mbuemo’s next club, after Thomas Frank’s impending move to Tottenham threatened to derail the Cameroonian’s transfer to Manchester United.
Mbuemo’s time in west London appears to be at an end, following an outstanding season which has seen the 25-year-old score 20 goals in last season’s Premier League campaign. His performances and goals proved key in ensuring Brentford finished the season in an impressive 10th place, and briefly threatened to catapult them into one of next season’s European competitions.
The Bees have seemingly accepted that now in the optimal time to cash in on Mbuemo’s impressive feats, but it remains uncertain where he’ll be plying his trade come August.
It had looked certain that Mbuemo would complete a move to Old Trafford, with betting sites slashing his odds on joining the Red Devils to as short as 1/7. In fact, many UK betting sites closed the betting on Mbuemo’s next club entirely, as super agents and footballing ITKs claimed a move to Man Utd was drawing ever nearer.
Frank move to Spurs threatens to derail Mbuemo deal
Yet Thomas Frank’s impending move to take over as Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager has breathed new life into speculation surrounding Mbuemo. With Frank now heavily odds-on to step into the hotseat in north London as early as this week, it is claimed that the Dane would love to take his talisman across London with him.
At the time of writing, Man Utd remain favourites to secure what would be a prized signature, but their odds have drifted significantly, to 1/2. In percentage terms, this translates into just a 67% of completing the move, down from highs of 87%.
Tottenham sit second in the list of future clubs, with betting sites pricing them up between 13/8 and 11/4, while Brentford fans will surely be accepting that their top goalscorer is on his way out, given he’s 10/1 to still be turning out for The Bees in the new season.
