Young Lions to keep that winning feeling
England made a winning start to their European Championship defence on Thursday and the Young Lions will be confident of backing that up with another success at the expense of Slovenia.
Lee Carsley’s side overcame Czech Republic 3-1 in their Group B opener, leaving them behind Germany on goal difference following the latter’s 3-0 triumph over Slovenia.
Slovenia had over 60% possession in that contest but didn’t create enough with the amount of ball they had, registering just three shots on target from nine attempts.
Head coach Andrej Razdrh knows his side will need to push for the win, as another defeat could spell the end of their qualification hopes depending on what happens in the other group game, and he will demand a more creative performance from his players.
There is hope that Slovenia can find the back of the net, as they come up against an England team who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four assignments, but another defeat could be heading the way of Razdrh’s troops.
The Young Lions are on a two-game winning streak and they played with a real freedom in that opening win over Czech Republic, finishing with nearly 70% possession and registering six shots on target from 14 attempts.
Both teams to score has landed in England’s last four games and in three of Slovenia’s last five outings, and it would be no surprise to see the nets bulge at both ends in a win for Carsley’s side.

Nwaneri to stake his claim
Given England’s strength in depth, head coach Carsley could decide to tweak his starting XI for this contest and one player who could benefit is Ethan Nwaneri, who came off the bench in the second half last time out.
That cameo from the bench was the 18-year-old’s third U21 cap and he will be chomping at the bit to get more minutes in this tournament.
Nwaneri, who plays his club football for Arsenal, has one goal from three caps and he looks like a solid option in the anytime goalscorer market.

Rowe to stay on the goal trail
Marseille forward Jonathan Rowe grabbed his second U21 goal when earning his fifth cap in the victory over Czech Republic and he will be hoping to have done enough to retain his place in the starting XI.
The 22-year-old’s pace, power and finishing ability make him one of the deadliest players in front of goal and he looks capable of notching against Slovenia. Finish off this bet builder by adding in England to win by exactly two goals, a bet that has been successful in their last two matches against Portugal and Czech Republic
