BMW International Open tips golf betting tips

Patrick Reed emerged victorious at LIV Golf Houston on Sunday evening, and the American is one of a number of stars from the breakaway circuit making the trip to Germany for the BMW International Open on the DP World Tour.

Spain’s David Puig and Sergio Garcia will join Reed at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, situated around 15 miles north of Munich. The LIV trio are prominent in the market, while Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is the shortest-priced contender from the regular DPWT contingent.

Eichenried, a 7,347-yard par-72 track, has hosted the tournament on 28 occasions, including in each of the last four seasons, when Viktor Hovland, Haotong Li, Thriston Lawrence and Ewen Ferguson were crowned champions.

The course is straightforward for professionals, who will likely need a hot putter if they’re to go close to lifting the trophy on Sunday afternoon.

Happy Haotong can double up in Germany

Patrick Reed merits respect at a course where he finished 13th on his debut last season, having looked a likely winner heading into the final round, but the American looks a short enough price after a long trip from Texas to Bavaria.

Haotong Li, the champion at Eichenried in 2022, is sixth on the DP World Tour Rankings following a superb campaign, and the Chinese player looks to have been underestimated at a course where he knows he can contend.

Li won the Qatar Masters title in February, then chalked up four top-10 finishes from five starts in Singapore, China, Turkey and Belgium, before two lesser efforts in Austria and the Netherlands.

Neither of those venues was particularly suitable for the 29-year-old, who will be freshened up after a break. His power and touch on the greens is ideal for Eichenried.

Von Dellingshausen could delight his home crowd

PGA Tour regular Matti Schmid heads the German challenge, but in-form Nicolai von Dellingshausen is playing well enough to upstage his compatriot.

Von Dellingshausen regained DP World Tour playing rights via the Challenge Tour last year, and has been making the most of his status, winning the Austrian Alpine Open last month at a venue just over the border in Salzburg.

After backing up that triumph by finishing seventh and fifth in his two most recent DP World Tour starts, he will be relishing a return to this venue, where he finished fifth behind Li in 2022.

Kaymer looks capable of rolling back the years

It could also be worth taking a chance on Martin Kaymer, who has found some form on the LIV Tour and looks overpriced at a venue which he could probably play with his eyes shut.

The German won his second European Tour title at Eichenried in 2008, then went on to win two Majors, while he also represented Europe in four straight Ryder Cups from 2010 to 2016.

While not the force of old, he was a runner-up in the BMW International Open as recently as 2021, and his last two LIV Golf results – eighth in Houston and 18th in Dallas – are cause for optimism about a strong showing from the veteran.
