Alfred Dunhill Links Championship betting tips
Three-time and defending champion Tyrrell Hatton plus his triumphant European team-mates Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre are among the headline acts teeing it up at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and St Andrews.
But because the event is a pro-am they won’t be the only stars shining along the stunning Scottish coastline with big names from the world of sport and entertainment also delighting the galleries.
- Outright winner – Tom McKibbin each-way @ 25/1
- Outright winner – Daniel Brown each-way @ 50/1
- Outright winner – Marcus Armitage each-way @ 110/1
McKibbin can leave Cup heroes beached
World-class golfers can do extraordinary things, but given the raw emotion, the workload, the celebrations and the flying time, it may be worth putting a red line through the four European Ryder Cup stars who will be given a hero’s reception in Scotland.
At bigger odds, maybe, but Fleetwood, Hatton, Fitzpatrick and MacIntyre head the betting and in a world-class field – one of the best ever assembled in this DP World Tour event – others are preferred.
There is also an indifferent (at best) weather forecast which will test everyone’s mettle and patience but, as someone who grew up playing his golf in windswept County Antrim, a breezy few days shouldn’t faze Tom McKibbin.
The 22-year-old, the youngster who turned down a PGA Tour card to join LIV Golf, has been in sparkling form with top 10s in Dubai and Singapore before reeling off four top-sevens during the LIV schedule.
He returned for the Irish Open (T20) and BMW PGA (T11), which suggests the former European Open champion is close to bolting up in the most illustrious fields.

Sand lover Brown can kick up a storm
Daniel Brown is 16th in the Race to Dubai as we head towards the back end of a memorable year and he may not be done yet.
The Englishman won his second DP World Tour event when he got up at the International Open in July and he has not gone off the boil since then.
Brown finished 19th at the Nexo at Donald Trump’s links resort in Aberdeenshire and followed that with a T8 at the British Masters, T9 at the Irish Open and T12 at the French Open.
He has performed well in the sands before – 10th at last year’s Open Championship at Troon where he led after round one and fourth at last year’s Irish Open at Royal County Down – he looks a fair price.
- Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Tip 2: Outright winner – Daniel Brown each-way @ 50/1
Erratic Armitage to enjoy a good week
For a big-priced outsider, have a look at Marcus Armitage, runner-up to Fitzpatrick here two years ago in an event shortened to 54 holes by the weather.
If consistency is your watchword then you wouldn’t go near the 38-year-old, who has had five missed cuts in his last seven events.
The other two, however, yielded a T12 at the Irish Open and a T5 at the French Open and fourth in strokes gained putting last time out in Paris was a statement performance from a player who becomes a real threat if the putter is hot.
