Lions can devour weakened Wales
Wales manager Craig Bellamy has labelled England’s squad strength as ‘ridiculous’ and he may struggle to prevent the Three Lions from inflicting a heavy defeat on his team under the famous Wembley arch.
As a player Bellamy was a fearsome competitor who considered nothing to be a lost cause.
The 46-year-old has brought that passion into management and is having a positive influence on the Welsh team, who have lost just two of 12 games since his appointment in July 2024.
Bellamy would love for Wales to give England a stern test.
But he is having to look at the bigger picture and must ensure that his players are properly prepared for next Monday’s crucial World Cup qualifier at home to Belgium.
Wales are engaged in a tight battle in Group J as they jostle with North Macedonia and Belgium for the solitary automatic qualification slot.
They have taken 10 points from five games, but need to be targeting a home win over the Belgians, who are on the same number of points having played one game less.
Bellamy needs to keep his key men fresh and will have little choice other than to deploy fringe players and youngsters against the Three Lions.
And a largely second string Wales side could find themselves outclassed by an opponent who are already looking ahead to next summer’s finals.
England’s qualification hasn’t quite been confirmed, but it is surely only a matter of time after last month’s stunning 5-0 victory away to Serbia.
Thomas Tuchel’s side rose to a tough challenge in Belgrade and they should follow with another dominant success.

Resurgent Rashford can make his mark
Barcelona loanee Marcus Rashford has been responding well to a new challenge and looks as likely as any England player to take advantage of a below strength Wales defence.
Rashford has been getting regular game time with the Catalan giants and showed his class on Champions League matchday one with a superb brace in Barca’s 2-1 victory away to Newcastle.
And the 27-year-old seems to have the full support of Tuchel, who utilised him for both of England’s September qualifiers.
Rashford came off the bench to score a 90th minute penalty in the 5-0 victory away to Serbia and he looks overpriced to notch against Wales.

Combative Cabango could be cautioned
England have been slow out of the blocks in recent home games, but they can make an early breakthrough against Wales and go on to secure a high-scoring success.
There could be a lack of experience in the Welsh line-up and it shouldn’t take very long for the home side to take full advantage.
Wales could be forced to do a lot of defending and a tough evening is on the cards for Swansea centre-back Ben Cabango, who has collected three Championship cautions already this season.
