England vs Serbia Betting Tips
Our betting expert has three England vs Serbia tips for Thursday’s World Cup qualifying match at Wembley Stadium (kick-off, 7.45pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- England and under 2.5 goals @ 12/5
- Harry Kane to score first @ 3/1
- Marcus Rashford to score or assist and Sasa Lukic and Nemanja Gudelj to be booked @ 16/1
Three Lions to win in less emphatic fashion
England’s place at next summer’s World Cup is already assured but they will want to maintain their perfect record in qualifying when they play host to a Serbia side that still have plenty of work to do if they are to reach the play-offs.
The Three Lions are six wins from six in Group K, scoring 18 goals and conceding none, with their most impressive result coming when they thrashed Serbia 5-0 in Belgrade in September.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel may use this return match to experiment with his starting XI slightly, so a similarly emphatic result seems unlikely, but England should still have enough quality to win this game and protect their impressive clean-sheet record.
Serbia realistically know they need to take something from this trip to Wembley to keep their top-two hopes alive – they currently sit third, a point behind Albania, who visit group whipping boys Andorra on Thursday.
The Eagles are usually hard to get past, as only England and European champions Spain have beaten them by more than a two-goal margin since March 2024, a run of 20 matches, and given they should try to keep things tight under their new head coach Veljko Paunovic, this could end in a low-scoring victory for the hosts.

Kane to get England up and running again
Even if Tuchel does opt to rotate parts of his starting line-up, one man that is likely to keep his place is captain Harry Kane, who is the leading scorer in the group with six goals.
Bayern Munich star Kane, who is England’s record scorer, is enjoying one his best ever starts to a season, scoring an eye-watering 26 goals in 20 appearances for club and country, including when he opened the scoring against Serbia in September.
Kane also netted first in the qualifying win over Andorra in June and he is the prime candidate to break the deadlock on Thursday, with the ideal scenario for Tuchel being his captain helps England establish a commanding lead early so he can be wrapped up in cotton wool during the second half.

Rashford could seize his chance
Anthony Gordon’s withdrawal from the England squad due to injury could open the door for Marcus Rashford to start at Wembley and the on-loan Barcelona ace is certainly in form.
Rashford’s total of seven assists is more than any player across Europe’s top five leagues this season and in all competitions he has an impressive 15 goal involvements for his club.
The 28-year-old has been directly involved in four goals across his last three La Liga appearances and he could have a big role to play for his country this midweek.
The potential threat of Serbia’s top-two hopes going up in smoke could increase the likelihood of the visitors picking up yellow cards and two primary candidates for that are defensive midfielders Sasa Lukic and Nemanja Gudelj.
Fulham’s Lukic has given away the most fouls (29) and picked up the joint-most cautions (five) in the Premier League this season, while 33-year-old Gudelj may struggle to keep up with England’s dynamic midfield and he was booked when the two teams met in the group stage at Euro 2024.
