DP World Tour Championship golf betting tips
The curtain will come down on the DP World Tour season this week with the Tour Championship taking place at the Earth Course in Dubai.
Three players head to the United Arab Emirates with a chance of being crowned the season’s top performer – Rory McIlroy, Marco Penge and Tyrrell Hatton.
It is no surprise to see McIlroy at the head of the market and he has already triumphed three times in this tournament, while Penge has had a campaign to remember with three victories on the circuit.
However, the Englishman is making his course debut on a track where McIlroy is ultra-familiar, while Hatton will have to put a disappointing finish in Abu Dhabi firmly behind him if he has any chance of claiming the big prize.
- Outright winner – Rory McIlroy @ 15/4
- Outright winner – Nicolai Hojgaard @ 16/1
- Outright winner – Rasmus Hojgaard @ 18/1
McIlroy should be charged for more glory
McIlroy has had a dream 2025, winning not only the Players Championship, but also The Masters to complete the career Grand Slam.
A triumph at the Irish Open also came his way and his course form suggests he will be in great shape to land his seventh European Tour seasonal crown.
McIlroy has played here on 14 occasions and while he has claimed three victories, including in last year’s renewal, he has finished in the top-five nine times.
This is a wide track with plenty of opportunities for big hitters to let rip and there is no better player in the game with his driver in hand.
It is no surprise he enjoys the Earth course so much and this looks the ideal opportunity for him to rekindle the love affair.
He had his putting issues in Abu Dhabi last week, but a closing 62 means he heads to Dubai in ideal shape to add to his impressive trophy collection.
- DP World Tour Championship Tip 1: Outright winner – Rory McIlroy @ 15/4
- Plenty of promotions for existing customers
- Extra Place races available
Former champion may not lie down
While McIlroy’s course record is exemplary, Nicola Hojgaard’s should not be sniffed at either and the Dane will fancy his chances of replicating the triumph he posted in 2023 when he claimed a two-shot success.
He was also fourth on his debut at the track in 2021 and will be hungry to revisit that triumph two years ago as he was unable to defend his title last year as he did not qualify.
Desert golf is something that suits him as he won the Ras al Khaimah Championship in 2022, and his third place in Abu Dhabi last week should stand him in good stead.
- DP World Tour Championship Tip 2: Outright winner – Nicolai Hojgaard @ 16/1
- Stake as little as 5p to benefit from new customer offer
- Recent site refresh has made navigation far more friendly
Rasmus can also make his presence felt
The other Hojgaard twin, Rasmus, is another player who is difficult to ignore.
Like his brother, he enjoys a visit to the Earth Course where he has claimed finishes of 7-11-2 in his last three starts at the venue.
He was third at the Sanderson Farms Championship recently in America and he improved as the week went on at Abu Dhabi last week, posting 67 and 65 over the weekend on his way to 23rd spot, so there looks a strong chance that there will be more than one Hojgaard in the mix at the top of the leaderboard this week.
