Miami still fighting for McDaniel ahead of European trip
The Miami Dolphins have had a season to forget on the whole and they are expected to miss out on the play-offs with their 3-7 record after 10 games.
Miami coach Mike McDaniel has been linked with the exit door, while general manager Chris Grier was fired at the end of October.
Just when the writing looked to be on the wall for McDaniel, the Dolphins beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-10 in Week 8. While they were brought back down to earth in a 28-6 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9, the Dolphins then beat AFC East rivals, the Buffalo Bills, 30-13..
That victory was one of the shocks of the season and the Dolphins will not fear a trip to a neutral stadium. Miami has nothing to lose in what is one final desperate attempt to make the play-offs, while the Commanders appear to be on the decline in all areas.
Washington, who made the play-offs last season, are also 3-7 after losing five games in a row.
The Commanders have conceded at least 28 points in four-successive matches, so the Dolphins should be able to take full advantage.

Desperation should lead to points
These two sides last met in Week 13 of the 2023 season, with the Dolphins running out 45-15 winners.
Another entertaining matchup looks to be on the cards, thanks to two poor defences. The Commanders concede 28 points per game, while the Dolphins are not too far behind with 25.6.
Both teams need a miracle to make the play-offs, but at 3-7, they are still in with a small chance. Neither team can go down without a fight, and the lack of consistency on defence should make this game worth watching in the final international match of the 2025 season.

Achane to spearhead Dolphins’ charge
Miami running back De’Von Achane remains one of the best in the business out of the backfield and he rushed for 174 yards and picked up two touchdowns against the Bills last week.
Achane has rushed for over 60 yards in seven of his 10 appearances this season and he should feast on a Commanders defence that concedes 134.4 yards on the ground per game.
The Dolphins star has been their main weapon on offence since Week 4, when Miami lost wide receiver Tyreek Hill for the season due to a serious knee injury.
Achane should be able to grind away and pound through the Commanders’ line, covering his yard line and scoring a touchdown in the process.
For the Commanders, quarterback Jayden Daniels is still sidelined with an elbow injury, meaning Marcus Mariota will fill in once again.
Mariota threw for 213 yards against the Lions, while he picked up the same number against the Chiefs. Those organisations are two of the best in the NFL and with Miami’s defence conceding points on a regular basis, he can make this an end-to-end battle.
