Germans to make happy return to English soil
Borussia Dortmund’s previous trip to England this season ended in a thumping 4-1 loss at Manchester City, but their second trip across the North Sea could well have a far happier ending.
That loss at City was against a Pep Guardiola side who were in a sizzling streak of form – which is the polar opposite of the place where Spurs find themselves ahead of this seventh game of eight in the Champions League league phase.
Both these club will take to the pitch on 11 points, each knowing a win nails a top-16 spot, but aware that defeat will make for a tense eighth and final round of action next week.
And on current form, the Germans have to fancy their chances with Tottenham in a terrible place right now.
Spurs are in dismal form with five defeats and just a solitary win in their last eight and boss Thomas Frank is surely one more bad result from the exit after Saturday’s horrible 2-1 home loss at the hands of relegation odds-on shots West Ham.
They are missing a number of players – Micky Van de Ven’s suspension in addition to a lengthy injury list – while Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga having lost only three times all season across three competitions. And two of those were at City and Bayern Munich.
They have scored three goals in each of their last three games and haven’t failed to find the net in any of their 14 away fixtures this season.
These are two clubs feeling very differently about life right now and while Frank can hope for a response from his under-performing flops, it seems likelier that Dortmund add to his woes.

Felix a threat to Frank’s reshuffled backline
Dortmund piled up 22 shots in their previous Champions League game – the 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt – and, while they may not reach those heights in North London, they still boast plenty of players who are a threat.
The obvious contenders on any goals and shots market are the likes of Serhou Guirassy, Karim Adeyemi and Fabio Silva.
Yet Dortmund’s joint top scorer in Europe this season is central midfielder Felix Nmecha, with three to his name.
The former Man City schemer is averaging 1.5 shots per game in the Champions League and against a Spurs team adjusting to yet another defensive overhaul with mainstay Van de Ven sidelines, take the German to hit the target at least once.

Scrappy Spurs to incur ref’s wrath
If this fixture pans out as predicted then Tottenham are going to be scrapping for everything trying to find a goal, and that brings cards into the mix.
Spurs have picked up at least three bookings in each of their last three matches – all losses – and have racked up 11 over the first six weeks of action in the Champions League, five more than Dortmund.
