Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham betting tips & predictions

Our betting expert has three Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham tips for Wednesday’s Champions League match at the Waldstadion (kick-off 8pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.

Goals to flow at Waldstadion

Tottenham can secure a top-eight finish with a victory against Eintracht Frankfurt, but it’s hard to have a great deal of faith in Thomas Frank’s men.

Spurs needed a last-gasp Cristian Romero strike to rescue a 2-2 draw at struggling Burnley in the Premier League at the weekend and that result did little to ease the unrest in north London.

Tottenham have won only one of their last seven matches, but it is not just the results that are causing concerns, but also the manner of their performances.

The north Londoners did beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League last week, but they were helped on their way by Daniel Svensson’s first-half red card and it’s hard to be compelled to back Tottenham for this game.

The problem with opposing Spurs on the match betting market is that Frankfurt have no hope of even reaching the knockout phase play-offs and they are a team in woeful form.

Frankfurt have lost five of their last six Champions League games and it’s five Bundesliga matches without a victory for the managerless team, who were beaten 3-1 at home by Hoffenheim on Saturday.

There have been a total 29 goals in Frankfurt’s seven European games this term and the net has rippled 39 times in their previous nine Bundesliga games.

With Tottenham needing a victory, they are likely to push forward in pursuit of three points, which could allow an opportunity for the Eagles to swoop.

At the same time, the lack of motivation for Frankfurt could see Tottenham run out high-scoring winners. At the prices, playing over 3.5 goals rates the best punt for this contest.

Solanke set to strike

Dominic Solanke’s return from injury has and should give Spurs some added impetus in the final third.

The England forward scored on his only Champions League start of the campaign on home turf against Dortmund last weekend and it should not be forgotten that he struck 16 goals in his debut season for Spurs last term.

That followed a 21-goal campaign at Bournemouth and Solanke will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a Frankfurt defence that has conceded 15 goals in their last five games.

Take Solanke to score at any time on Wednesday.

Volatile Romero could be in trouble

Romero often treads a fine line between commitment and recklessness and if things aren’t going quite as planned for Spurs in Germany, the defender could be in trouble with the officials.

The Argentinian has been shown a whopping 10 yellow cards and one red for Spurs this term and discipline is not a word often associated with the 27-year-old.

Taking Romero to be booked rates a solid first play in a three-leg bet builder.

Both teams have scored in each of Frankfurt’s last six matches and there has been a total of 28 in that high-scoring run of games.

Tottenham know that a draw will leave their top-eight hopes in danger and there should be no sitting back from Frank’s side.

Wilson Odobert has impressed in recent matches, laying on three goals in the games against Burnley and Dortmund. The Frenchman is averaging 2.02 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League this term and he can land at least one effort on target in Germany.
