Napoli vs Chelsea Tips
Our betting expert has three Napoli vs Chelsea tips for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona (kick-off, 8pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- Chelsea to win @ 6/5
- Joao Pedro to score anytime @ 2/1
- Bet Builder: Over 2 goals, Both teams to score and Moises Caicedo to be booked @ 6/1
Blues can boost top-eight chances
Chelsea have been far from fully convincing in the Champions League, but they approach the final league phase game in eighth place and can round things off with a victory over injury-hit Napoli, who are battling to avoid elimination.
Despite being eighth with one game left to play, the Blues are in a situation where even a victory might not be enough to see them secure an automatic route through to the round of 16.
Liam Rosenior’s side are among a bunch of eight teams on 13 points and five of those sides are sitting outside the top-eight positions.
Goal difference could come into play and Chelsea may find themselves in a situation where they need to push for a victory margin of more than one goal.
While Chelsea’s aim is to avoid the knockout phase play-offs, Napoli are desperate to extend their stay in the competition by any possible means.
Antonio Conte’s side have won just two of seven matches and find themselves in 25th place, meaning they need to climb at least one position if they are to continue their Champions League journey.
Napoli were Serie A champions last season, but their title defence has stalled with only six points taken from their last five top-flight fixtures.
Injuries have taken their toll and preparations for the Chelsea game are far from straightforward with Romelu Lukaku (thigh) short of match fitness and Kevin De Bruyne and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa among the notable absentees.
Conte’s side were far below their best in Sunday’s 3-0 loss away to Juventus and they will need to show a marked improvement if they are to salvage their European campaign.
The Italians have little option other than to push for the victory, but they run the risk of leaving themselves exposed against an in-form Chelsea side, who look overpriced to secure their fifth win of the competition.

Potent Pedro should show his quality
Chelsea’s recent change in the dugout seems to have gone down well with Joao Pedro, who is playing some of his best football of the campaign.
The Brazilian was on target in the recent Premier League wins at home to Brentford (2-0) and away to Crystal Palace (3-1) and looks ready to deliver in one of his club’s biggest matches of the season.
Caicedo could collect another caution
The white-hot atmosphere poses a tricky challenge for Chelsea players, who will need to be ultra-competitive while keeping their discipline.
Moises Caicedo has a crucial role to play and may struggle to avoid adding to his seasonal card count which stands at 10 from 28 club appearances
There could be a few cards flying about as well as plenty of goals in a contest where both teams may feel the need to push for victory.
