Nottingham Forest vs Ferencvaros Tips
Our betting expert has three Nottingham Forest vs Ferencvaros tips for Thursday, January 29 in the Europa League at The City Ground (kick-off, 5.30pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- Draw or Ferencvaros @ 13/10
- Cadu Lopes to be booked @ 10/3
- Bet Builder: Cadu Lopes 2+ Fouls, Bamidele Yusuf 1+ Shots On Target, Callum Hudson-Odoi 3+ Shots, James McAtee 1+ Fouls Suffered @ 11/1
Underdogs Ferencvaros can avoid defeat
Ordinarily, Forest would be expected to beat Ferencvaros with home advantage, but motivation could be an issue for the hosts.
Forest are essentially marooned in mid-table in the Europa League standings as the only team in the top eight they can catch are Real Betis, and it would take an improbable set of results for them to sneak into the automatic last-16 places.
In contrast, visitors the Hungarian side have it all to play for as they sit in seventh place. A draw might be enough to secure a top-eight finish and a win would ensure they don’t have to come through the play-off round.
Forest are battling relegation in the Premier League and have a key game against direct rivals Crystal Palace to come at the weekend.
That will be the priority this week for boss Sean Dyche and he may make a few chances for this European game, whereas Ferencvaros have their full focus on this clash.
The Hungarians are yet to be beaten in the league phase with four wins and three draws. They’re also on a 24-game unbeaten run across all competitions on their travels, so they are certainly capable of getting a positive result at the City Ground.
There is a temptation here to take a chance on the 17/4 on offer for a Ferencvaros win, but the more prudent play is the odds-against price on backing the visitors simply to avoid defeat in the double chance market.

Cadu a card contender for visitors
Ferencvaros’ Cadu Lopes is yet to be booked in the Europa League, while he has just one booking in 11 games in Hungary’s top tier, but he has perhaps been fortunate not to have picked up a couple of cards.
The Brazilian had two fouls in the draw with Panathinaikos in the last round of league phase games and made one foul earlier in the competition against Rangers despite playing for just eight minutes in that game.
Two or more fouls on Thursday for Cadu may be enough for a booking.

Shots and fouls combine for 11/1 bet builder
A Cadu card as a single stands out, but for the purposes of this bet builder backing the midfielder to commit two or more fouls makes sense. He commits on average 1.7 fouls per-game in this competition.
Ferencvaros’ Bamidele Yusuf averages an impressive 2.2 shots per-game in this competition with an accuracy rate of around 30 per cent, he looks capable of testing the home keeper.
Callum Hudson-Odoi could come back into the Forest side after featuring as a substitute against Braga in the last round of European games – he’s had at least three shots in every Europa League game he has started.
James McAtee has been fouled in two of his last three Europa League appearances and looks a contender to be on the receiving end of at least one infringement.
