Galatasaray vs Liverpool Betting tips
- Both Teams To Score @ 8/15
- Over 3.5 Goals @ 13/10
- Liverpool to win, Victor Osimhen to score and Galatasaray most cards in each half @ 24/1
Goals Expected at Both Ends in Istanbul
It’s worth siding with both teams finding the net in what promises to be an open affair at Rams Park. Galatasaray have been particularly lethal on home turf this season and understand that getting a positive result to take to Anfield for the second leg is hugely important for their qualification hopes. Their attacking intent was clear for all to see in their last Champions League home fixture, a sensational 5-2 victory over Juventus where they fired off a remarkable 22 shots.
Arne Slot’s side, meanwhile, have been one of the most potent attacking forces in the competition. Liverpool have scored in seven of their eight Champions League matches this season, boasting an impressive average of 2.5 goals per game on their way to the knockout stages. Only five teams in the entire tournament have been more clinical in front of goal.
Admittedly, the one occasion the Reds drew a blank was in their 1-0 league phase defeat at this very ground. However, a deeper look at the statistics reveals they were unfortunate not to score, having registered an Expected Goals (xG) figure of 1.81. A repeat of that clean sheet for the hosts seems unlikely given the attacking quality on display.

Turkish Giants’ Defensive Frailties Point to Goal-Fest
Our betting expert is also backing a high-scoring contest, with the Over 3.5 goals market holding significant appeal. Galatasaray’s recent home form points directly towards a goal-laden game, as their last five matches at Rams Park across all competitions have all sailed past the 3.5 goal line. The hosts’ inability to keep the back door shut, combined with their need to attack, creates the perfect recipe for goals.
While the previous meeting between these two sides ended in a narrow 1-0 win for the Turkish champions, the underlying numbers suggest a much more open game could have unfolded. That match saw a host of chances at both ends, finishing with a combined xG tally of 3.14, which implies more goals were warranted. Irrespective of the final score that day, it was far from a cagey encounter, and with the stakes even higher now, we expect the net to bulge on multiple occasions.

Expect Galatasaray to take physical approach
With the quality in Liverpool’s squad, they should be able to pick up the win. They should be on the front foot and they will definitely want revenge after losing to Galatasaray earlier in the season.
Liverpool have only lost twice in this competition so far, and have beaten the likes of Inter Milan and Real Madrid, so the defeat last time out in Turkey should be seen as more of a one-off. Galatasaray may have gotten through to this round, but they lost in the second leg to 10-man Juventus and they have only won one of their last five Champions League games.
That being said, we don’t expect it to be easy and as we tipped earlier we are backing both teams to score. Victor Osimhen has scored in each of his last three matches, and has six goals in his last ten matches, so we are backing him to find the back of the net this week.
Galatasaray will be physical against Liverpool and we expect them to try to intimidate the away side as they try to level the playing field. With this physical aspect, and with Galatasaray picking up the most yellow cards out of any team in the Champions League (26) we are expecting them to pick up the most cards in both halves.
