Cheltenham 2024: Accommodation prices are 200% higher than usual!

Ahead of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, we have analysed over 2000 accommodation listings to find out how much are the accommodation prices higher during Cheltenham in comparison to other weeks.
According to the results of the analysis:
- A 4-night Cheltenham stay (12th of March to 16th of March 2024) on Booking.com costs on average £3,030.41, which is 255% more the week prior and the week after the festival.
- A 4-night Cheltenham stay on Airbnb costs on average £1,577.86, which is 200% more the week prior and the week after the festival.
- When Booking.com & Airbnb data are combined together, the average 4-night Cheltenham stay costs £2,304.13 which is 230% more than the week prior and the week after the festival.
When comparing to our data from 2023 and 2022:
- A 4-night Cheltenham stay on Booking.com costs on average £1,994.57 in 2022, £3,932.53 in 2023 and £3,030.41 in 2024.
- A 4-night Cheltenham stay on Airbnb cost on average £2,920.08 in 2022, £1,543.20 in 2023 and £1,577.80 in 2024.
As of the 27th of February, the cheapest option on Booking.com is an apartment approximately 15 km from the racecourse for £559 and the most expensive is an apartment approximately 1 km from the racecourse for over £14 000.
Methodology
- In total, 2100 Airbnb & Booking.com accommodation listings in Cheltenham were collected for the 2024 analysis.
- The dates were pre-set to 12th of March to 16th of March 2024, which was then compared to average prices of 4-night stays on the same days of the week in the weeks before and after the Cheltenham Festival.
- The accommodation search was pre-set for 2 adults.
