Seven can prove lucky for Finland
Eurovision trends are one way to approach betting on the annual music event, and Finland tick a few boxes for us here. Well-performed duets have a strong record over the years, as do songs featuring violins, while Finland’s recent Eurovision record is also more than respectable, particularly at the semi-final stage where they’ve qualified comfortably for five years in a row now.
Normally I’d be a tad wary of backing a song performing in seventh place, as there is still half the field to come. However, the first half of semi-final one is where you can find all the quality this year, and so Finland will actually take to the stage after most of their genuine rivals have performed.
A slight rule change to reintroduce jury points in semi-finals also plays into Finland’s hands, potentially damaging the hopes of Greece, Israel and Moldova, which are all more reliant on votes from the viewing public.
Odds of 4/6 might not be enough to bring forward your retirement but they can certainly cover the cost of a Saturday night Eurovision party.

Something to Cro about
If betting odds of 4/6 are too short to tempt you, then worry not, as our second tip comes in at odds of 66/1.
Croatia’s Eurovision record is mixed at best, with a second-placed finish in 2024 providing their first top 10 finish since way back in 2001.
This doesn’t deter us though. Croatia should really appeal to their neighbours with this Slavic folk number, and the song is very different to anything else we’ll see in this semi-final. Winning the semi is almost certainly a bridge too far, but third place isn’t beyond the realms of possibility, as certainly isn’t as unlikely as the odds suggest.

- Part-own a horse with Coral Racing Club
Georgia on my mind
The withdrawal of some countries means only five countries taking part in each of this year’s semi-finals will ultimately miss out on a place in the grand final.
That boosts the hopes of Georgia enough to tempt us in, with odds of 2/1 that they’ll finish in the top 10.
The Georgian entry will be performed after an underwhelming Portuguese act, which should help them stand out, while it feels like there are enough duds in the semi – step forward Belgium, Estonia and San Marino in particular – to put Bzikebi right in contention to qualify.
