Wales to stay in the game
It is a torrid time for Welsh rugby, with the national team losing their last 15 internationals and head coach Warren Gatland having departed after the round two defeat to Italy.
Matt Sherratt has been placed in interim charge and he exacted an improvement from this ailing Wales team against Ireland in round three, running the Irish close in a 27-18 defeat at the Millennium Stadium.
Although on the end of another loss, that display should have provided Wales with a much-needed confidence boost and they will fancy their chances of keeping things close against Scotland at Murrayfield.
The Scots have lost their last two matches, going down to Ireland and then England, and their chances of winning a maiden Six Nations title are all but over.
While Gregor Townsend will demand a response from his side, this clash against Wales will be harder than it would have been a couple of weeks ago and the hosts will be made to work for the win.
It’s interesting to note that six of the last seven meetings have been decided by a winning margin of 1-12 points, while four of the last six clashes at Murrayfield have fallen into that mark.
- Scotland v Wales Tip 1: Winning Margin 4-Way – Scotland 1-12 @ 21/10 with bet365
Expect fireworks before the break
Both teams will be looking to get off to a bright start in Edinburgh and it would be no surprise to see the most points scored in the opening 40 minutes.
Of the six matches these two have played in the 2025 Six Nations, just one of those matches has seen more points scored after the interval.
Scotland and Wales appear to do their best work in the first half and that may be the case once again in Saturday’s contest.
- Scotland v Wales Tip 2: Highest scoring half – first half @ 1/1 with bet365
Huw Jones to notch another try
There are plenty of candidates that make appeal in the anytime tryscorer market but the name that sticks out is Scotland centre Huw Jones.
A contender for a place in the British & Irish Lions squad for the upcoming Australia Tour, Jones started off the Six Nations with a hat-trick against Italy.
While failing to score against Ireland, the 31-year-old scored in the defeat to England and he is just one behind France’s Louis Bielle-Biarrey in this year’s Six Nations try charts. He has four tries so far.
The pace and power of Jones makes him a handful for any defence and he should relish the opportunity to take on a Welsh side that have struggled to keep the points down.
