The league stage of the 2025 Premier League Darts reaches its conclusion this Thursday with one matter to be decided in Sheffield.
Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price head for the Utilita Arena in the Steel City having already booked their place in next week’s play-offs in London.
That just leaves Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen scrapping it out for the fourth and final spot – and to add even more drama to the occasion they are playing each other in the quarter-finals.

The Asp to strike for play-off place
After 16 weeks, wandering all around the UK and Europe, it’s all come down to this – a straight shoot-out for a place in next week’s play-offs.
In fairness, it’s not quite that simple, but there is no doubt that the one match with significance on Night 16 in Sheffield is the quarter-final between fourth-placed Nathan Aspinall and fifth-placed Michael van Gerwen.
If Aspinall wins, he’s off to the O2 next Thursday. If Van Gerwen wins he then has to win two more matches for a maximum five-point haul to pip The Asp by one.
We know both men have won majors so they can thrive under pressure. What we also know is that the two men met last week on Night 15 in Aberdeen and it was Aspinall who prevailed 6-3 before going on to win the night, his second Thursday triumph.
Aspinall had also beaten the Dutchman in Manchester on Night 10 and Newcastle on Night 8 while MvG has suffered first-round defeats in each of the last four events he has entered. He is not anything like the player he was and Aspinall ought to fancy his chances.

Bullet can give The Nuke a run
Stephen Bunting’s miserable Premier League return concludes in Sheffield and there won’t be too many giving The Bullet much of a sniff against Luke Littler.
Bunting is set to finish bottom of the pile with only seven matches to celebrate across 15 weeks of action.
Having said that, he has been competitive with a tournament average higher than half the field and pride should ensure he goes down fighting against Littler.
Indeed, their last two clashes in the Premier League have been keenly-contested affairs, a 6-5 win for each man, which illustrates what a scrapper Bunting can be.
Littler is understandably a short price to go in but Bunting has the scoring power to stay in the game and land the handicap honours with a 2.5-leg start.

Price is right for Iceman bet
There have been four Littler-Humphries finals across the first 15 weeks of the Premier League and between them the two Lukes have appeared in 15 finals throughout the campaign. Rob Cross, for comparison, has not appeared in any.
They are the class acts though can be beaten and Gerwyn Price is always a candidate to upset the odds, and that could easily be the case in Sheffield.
Under no pressure with a play-off place locked in, take the Iceman to see off Chris Dobey en route to landing a fourth nightly success in what has already been a memorable campaign.
Price, who also has three Players Championship successes to his name in ’25, hit a nine-darter in defeat at the hands of Bunting in Aberdeen last week, his second of the campaign and fifth in the Premier League.
