Royal Ascot day 5 predictions & tips
The final day of the 2025 Royal Ascot jamboree takes place on Saturday and a superb all-round card features the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes for the sprinters, with the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes also promising to be a fantastic contest for the older horses.
Elsewhere on the card is an intriguing opening Chesham Stakes for juveniles while the Wokingham Handicap always provides thrills and spills before the meeting closes with the Queen Alexandra Stakes run over a marathon 2m5f.
- 2.30 Royal Ascot – Moments Of Joy to win @ 7/4 with SkyBet
- 3.40 Royal Ascot – Inisherin to win @ 4/1 with Betano
- 5.00 Royal Ascot – More Thunder to win at 9/2 with bet365
Chesham Stakes – 2.30pm
A feature of this week’s Royal meeting has been the dominance of Aidan O’Brien with his juveniles and the trend looks set to continue with Moments Of Joy in the opening Chesham Stakes.
This 7f event has been won by some top-class horses in recent years with Churchill and Pinatubo on the roll of honour.
O’Brien himself has a particularly fine record in the event too and has bagged five of the last nine runnings with Bedtime Story a spectacular victor in 2024.
O’Brien relies on Justify filly Moments Of Joy this time around and the hint should be taken.
It’s fair to say she was the stable’s second string when impressively scoring on her debut in a 7f Leopardstown maiden (Ryan Moore rode odds-on favourite Minerva) but Moore takes the ride this time and it’s also worth noting that O’Brien has twice captured that same Leopardstown maiden with subsequent Chesham winners.

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes – 3.40pm
The highlight of the afternoon comes at 3.40 with the only Group 1 of the day, the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, and this 6f event has a real international feel with leading candidates from Japan and France going head to head with the best sprinters from the UK and Ireland.
Japanese challenger Satono Reve is a fascinating contender on his first visit to these shores and French raiders Lazzat, Topgear and Sajir all command plenty of respect.
But Kevin Ryan has few peers in getting the best out of a sprinter on the biggest of days and his Inisherin is taken to emerge on top and follow up his success in the Commonwealth Cup over C&D 12 months ago.
Ryan’s Shamardal colt looked set to carry all before him after that sparkling success as a 3YO but he failed to fire when favourite in Newmarket’s July Cup and Haydock’s Sprint Cup subsequently.
However, he looked right back to his best following wind surgery when returning with an impressive victory in York’s Duke Of York Stakes and this imposing 4YO seems sure to build on that in 2025 and finally prove to be a major force in the top sprints.
Aidan O’Brien fields a most intriguing rival in the smart Australian import Storm Boy but Inisherin can take the prize.

Wokingham Stakes – 5:00pm
Later in the afternoon it is the turn of the handicappers to thunder down Ascot’s 6f track and if there is one runner in the line up who is a Group horse running in a handicap then it is More Thunder.
William Haggas inherited this son of Night Of Thunder from the retired Sir Michael Stoute and immediately switched the 4YO’s attention to sprinting with devastating effect.
More Thunder created a striking impression when landing a good-class Newmarket handicap over today’s trip before following up under a 5lb penalty there later in the spring, doing really well to overhaul runner-up Aramram, having suffered a less-than-smooth passage.
He hasn’t been seen out since so there remains plenty of mileage in his official handicap mark of 98, especially as Ascot’s stiff finish seems sure to play to his strengths.
Haggas took this prize 12 months ago with the equally progressive Unequal Love and he looks set for another big-race handicap success.
