When and where is Eurovision 2024?

The 2024 Eurovision grand final will take place on Saturday 11th May at 8pm, although the semi-finals take place on Tuesday 7th May and Thursday 9th May. You can watch Eurovision live on BBC One if you’re from the United Kingdom. It’s worth remembering that if you’re from outside of the United Kingdom that timings and television channels might vary.

Eurovision 2024 Latest News

Draw dampens Dutch delight: Much of the joy the Netherlands felt from progressing to the final of Eurovision will have been erased after being handed a far from ideal draw in the final. Ukraine was another big loser, while Croatia, Switzerland and France appear the biggest beneficiaries.

Israeli Surge: The big winner from Thursday’s second Eurovision semi-final was undoubtedly Israel. Despite the controversy surrounding Israel’s participation, the odds on Eden Golan winning have been slashed from 35/1 to as short as 2/1. Could we have a new Eurovision favourite soon?

Pole Axed: Poland’s failure to qualify for the 2024 Eurovision Grand Final was the biggest shock from Tuesday’s semi-final results. Australia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Iceland also fell short, with Slovenia amongst the more surprising entries to progress to Saturday’s final.

Plenty to Cro about: Croatia have taken over from Switzerland as the Eurovision 2024 favourites, after impressing in rehearsals. Ireland have also shot up to fourth place in the latest betting odds, at the expense of Netherlands and Belgium, whose chances have both weakened in recent days.

Eurovision Favourites Odds 2024

Betting sites place Switzerland amongst the favourites to win Eurovision 2024. They’re priced at 4/1 on bet365 to win their first Eurovision since 1988, which came when Celine Dion won the competition for them. Nemo is representing them in 2024, and we’ve been told to expect a high energy performance from them, which promises to be an exciting watch.

It’s Croatia that head the betting, courtesy of Baby Lasagna. Rim Tim Tagi Dim follows a similar formula to that which saw Finland place second last year. The hope is that a significant public vote will be enough to give the country their first ever Eurovision victory. This would be some achievement for a country that have never even finished in the top three before.

France, Ukraine and Israel make up the rest of the top-five favourites to win this year’s Eurovision, and it’ll be interesting to see whether any surprise countries join them in having relatively short odds to win the title in 2024.

Eurovision Betting Tips

Betting on the outright winner of Eurovision may be the most popular betting market, but many betting sites actually offer plenty more options, which you can read about below.

Eurovision betting tips for semi-final 1

Bookmakers are likely to correctly predict most of the 10 qualifiers from the first Eurovision semi-final. We can expect to see Croatia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Ireland, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Poland and Cyprus fill nine of those qualification spots, but the battle for who’ll take the final place is harder to call, and looks to be between Serbia, Australia and Slovenia.

Serbia snuck through in 10th place last year, but have been handed what is generally accepted to be the worst possible spot to perform from this year, second in the running order. Australia’s effort is far from their best, but their semi-final record is outstanding, with three wins from seven attempts, while only missing out on the top 10 on one occasion. Performing 16th, directly after a mediocre entry from Azerbaijan, gives them a great chance to extend their good run.

We’d therefore be looking at backing Australia or Slovenia to sneak through to the Eurovision 2024 final, or alternatively backing Serbia to narrowly miss out.

Eurovision betting tips for semi-final 2

The Netherlands look a sure-fire winner of Thursday’s second Eurovision semi-final, but backing them at such short odds remains a risky strategy. They look certain to join Switzerland, Greece and Israel in the grand final, but successfully nailing all 10 qualifiers feel like a tricky business when there are no complete no-hopers. San Marino could conceivably upset the odds at 3/1. It’s one of their better efforts, and some potentially big points should be expected from neighbouring Italy.

Eurovision betting tips for the final

It doesn’t take a genius to tip the hot favourite in the Eurovision betting odds, but Croatia (11/8) does tick alot of boxes when looking for the most likely winner.

Baby Lasagna should be handed a good draw in the final, we’ve already seen the entry go down a storm in the arena once, and it looks certain to win the public vote with ease. There may be concern over how juries score the song, but we suspect producers wouldn’t want to stick a knife into Croatia’s chances. It’d provide us with a new winning country, and having the public favourite fall short again like last year would be ill-advised.

Away from the 2024 Eurovision favourite, Switzerland is our most likely winner of the jury vote (2/1), while we expect the Israeli diaspora to be out in force, determined to prop up their performance and silence the naysayers in the current climate. Backing them each-way at 35/1, or at 9/4 for a top five finish are both options.

At the other end of the spectrum, Slovenia probably snuck through to the final in 9th or 10th spot, so are likely to find themselves thoroughly overshadowed on Saturday night. Going home with the wooden spoon for last place (8/1) is a much more likely outcome than an elusive first victory.

Eurovision betting tips update: Anyone that took the 35/1 about Israel is surely laughing now, with the latest odds as short as 2/1 and the surge showing no sign of stopping. It’s impossible to justify backing them at the current odds though, so we’ll look elsewhere for some value.

Slovenia are sandwiched between the big guns of Croatia and Switzerland in the final running order, so 80/1 on a last place finish quite frankly feels very generous.

On the win market, the producers have given us a running order which greatly favours Croatia, Switzerland and France, so an each-way punt on the French at 20/1 will give you a real run for your money, especially as the juries should be all over the entry.

We’ll also take a shot at the top 10 market, in the hope that Austria will see the benefits of being the last song we hear – 5/1 that they secure a top 10 finish is on the big side.

Eurovision Betting Markets

Eurovision Winner Odds

This market is the most popular Eurovision betting market, as you’re simply wagering your funds on which country you think will win the event. The bookmakers’ favourite have won the Eurovision song contest on four out of the last five occasions, and so there’s definitely some reliability and reasoning behind the odds being offered on favourites to win this event.

If your chosen country wins the event, then you’ll have your bet settled as a winning one, but if they finish anywhere apart from first, and you haven’t placed an each-way bet, then your bet will be settled as a loss.

LiveScore Bet are another popular bookmaker that offer Eurovision betting odds for outright winner markets, and with an eye-catching sign-up offer in place for new customers, it’s well-worth taking advantage of.

Each-Way Bet Eurovision 2024

Each-way betting is available on the 2024 Eurovision song contest, which gives you some insurance behind your betting selections on this popular event. The majority of leading betting sites are paying out on four places for the Eurovision song contest, and so if your selected country doesn’t win, but comes in the top-four when you’ve placed an each-way bet on them, then you’ll receive a return of some funds depending on the odds you placed the bet on originally.

It’s worth remembering that an each-way stake is double that of what you would place on a standard outright betting market, and so remember to gamble responsibly and with funds you can afford to lose, as there isn’t ever guarantees in betting.

Eurovision Top 5 Odds

This betting market is self explanatory, as you’ll be betting on a certain country to finish in the top-five after the votes have been confirmed. It’s worth remembering that there are two sections to the votes, and it’s only after the second lot of voting that the results will be finalised.

BetUK are one of the few bookmakers that offer Top 5 betting odds for Eurovision 2024, and they’re offering odds of 5/4 on France to finish in the top five this year, which could be a tempting bet, as it looks as though they have another strong entry. Eurovision betting has a wide range of markets accessible with some bookmakers, and BetUK are one of those, and with competitive Eurovision 2024 odds, you’d be foolish not to delve deeper into what they have to offer.

Eurovision Top 10 Odds

The odds for a top-ten finish are shorter than what is offered by the majority of Eurovision betting sites, which is understandable, as it’s giving punters more chance of securing a winning bet. You’ll often find that there isn’t much value for your money in top-ten betting markets for Eurovision, especially if you’re looking to include some of the favourites to win the event, as they’re often priced very short.

Eurovision Last Place Odds

Finishing in last place can be humiliating for any person, and it’s not something you want to have on your record at the Eurovision song contest. You can place bets on who you think will finish in last place at Eurovision 2024, and it’ll be interesting to see which country struggles at this year’s event.

Norway and Finland have both finished in last position the most times out of any country on 11 occasions, whilst the likes of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria make up the top-five in that unfortunate list. The United Kingdom has come last on five occasions, with their most recent struggles coming in 2019, when Michael Rice came bottom of the pile.

Eurovision Country vs Country Betting Odds

Not all leading betting sites offer country vs country betting markets for the Eurovision song contest, but it’s pleasing to see some of them are ahead of this year’s event. For your bet to be settled as a winner on this betting market, you’ll need your selected country to score more points than the country they’re up against as listed on the bookmakers’ website.

Eurovision Song Contest Past Winners

We’ve seen winners come from all around Europe for Eurovision in recent years, and there often isn’t a winner that has retained their title from the previous year. You’d have to go all the way back to 1994 for back-to-back wins from any country, as Ireland won the 1992, 1993, and 1994 event, before eventually having their run of wins ended by Norway in 1995.
