3M Open Betting Tips & Predictions
This year’s staging will be the seventh edition of the tournament and Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas comes into the event as the defending champion. Several of the world’s leading players have decided to skip the trip to Minnesota after last week’s testing conditions in Northern Ireland.
Sam Burns has been installed as the 16/1 favourite, with Maverick McNealy next up in the betting at 20/1. We also fancy some outsiders to challenge the favourites.

Burns trending in the right direction
Backing the favourite in this event has usually not paid off, with only Tony Finau in 2022 delivering the goods at a short price.
However, it is hard to overlook Sam Burns in the market, especially when considering his recent form.
Since missing three cuts between Weeks 11 and 14, Burns has placed in the top 50 in 11 consecutive tournaments. That includes a T5 finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and second spot at the RBC Canadian Open.
Burns finished in a share of seventh at the U.S. Open and he usually wins at courses that require golfers to shoot low numbers. Three of Burns’ wins on the PGA Tour have come thanks to scores of -17 under or better and he will need to repeat that this week.
The American has finished in the top 32 in all three of his outings at the 3M Open and a place in the USA Ryder Cup team is not out of reach just yet, so expect him to be fired up this week.

Thorbjornsen to learn from previous mistakes
Michael Thorbjornsen only joined the PGA Tour just over 13 months ago, so he can be forgiven for missing the cut in his only appearance at the 3M Open in 2024.
The 23-year-old finished last season with two top-10 finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship and the RSM Classic and it clearly gave him a platform to build from in 2025.
Thorbjornsen finished T2 at the Corales Puntacana Championship earlier this season and he has recorded three successive top-25 finishes.
Bizarrely, he started last year’s 3M Open with a superb 66, only to miss the cut after adding 11 shots to his score in round two. He drives the ball well and he should have learned from those errors last year.

Conditions should suit Kitayama
Time is running out for Kurt Kitayama to secure his spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs. The 32-year-old has given himself a chance in recent weeks, though, finishing tied fifth at the John Deere Classic and T14 at the Barracuda Championship.
Kitayama has done well in the past at courses that have plenty of water in play, which is the case at TPC Twin Cities. Fifteen of the 18 holes have water in play this week in Minnesota, while 12 months ago he finished sixth in this tournament.
He ranked second for tee to green in the 2024 edition of the £M Open so, if he can fine-tune his work on the greens, he should be in with a chance of lifting the trophy.
