The DP World Tour is in the spotlight this week with the penultimate tournament of the 2025 season, the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links.
Previously staged at the start of the year, the Abu Dhabi Championship switched to a November slot for the first time last season to make up the first half of the DP World Tour playoffs, which conclude with the DP World Tour Championship at Dubai’s Earth Course next week. Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship golf betting tips
The top 70 available players on the Race to Dubai standings – Justin Rose, Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm and Matt Wallace are absent – will tee it up at Yas Links, while Ryder Cup heroes Shane Lowry and Ludvig Aberg are also granted exemptions, bringing the field size up to 72.
Yas Links, a modern links designed by Kingsbarns architect Kyle Phillips, took over hosting duties in 2022, when Thomas Pieters took this Rolex Series title. Victor Perez and Paul Waring have won the two subsequent editions.
- Outright winner – Tyrrell Hatton @ 8/1
- Outright winner – Alex Noren @ 22/1
- Outright winner – Rafa Cabrera Bello @ 150/1
Hatton could prove the pick of the favourites
As its name suggests, Yas Links should favour those with links experience, and while Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood both excel in that regard, it’s Tyrrell Hatton who is the clear pick on course form.
Hatton went winless on the LIV Tour this season, but prior to that he’d won the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, and this week he returns to a course where he has form figures of 6-7-2 in the Abu Dhabi Championship.
He won the last edition of this tournament to take place at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, in 2021, and, as a three-time winner of the Dunhill Links, his credentials on this style of golf course are up there with the best.
After winning three-and-a-half points from four matches at the Ryder Cup, Hatton finished runner-up to Robert MacIntyre in the Dunhill Links. He can still win the Race to Dubai, and victory in Abu Dhabi gives him a huge chance.

Noren poised to complete DP World Tour hat-trick
Alex Noren missed the cut in the Bank of Utah Championship on the PGA Tour when last seen, but Yas Links should prove much more to the Swede’s liking.
A winner of the British Masters and the BMW PGA Championship on the DPWT in recent outings, Noren has made one start at Yas, recovering from a slow start to finish fifth behind Perez in 2023.
He is also a two-time winner on Phillips’ designed courses, at the 2015 Nordea Masters and 2016 British Masters.

Course form suggests Cabrera Bello is overpriced
At a treble-figure each-way price, it’s worth taking a chance on Spain’s Rafa Cabrera Bello, who has a fine Yas Links record.
Two appearances at the Abu Dhabi venue have resulted in a runner-up finish in 2022 and 10th place the following season, and there have been flickers of form from the former Ryder Cup star, including third at the Irish Open in September, and 14th in Korea last time out.
Like Noren, he has excelled on Phillips courses, winning the 2017 Scottish Open at Dundonald links.
