Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips
Our betting expert has three Arsenal vs Crystal Palace tips for Tuesday’s EFL Cup quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium (kick-off, 8.00pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- Arsenal -1 goal (handicap) @ 6/4
- Noni Madueke to score or assist @ 1/1
- Bet Builder – Arsenal-Arsenal Half-Time/Full-Time, Noni Madueke anytime goalscorer, over 2 goals @ 13/2
Gunners can join elite semi-final line-up
Many fans might not care much for the magic of the EFL Cup, but this season’s competition has produced a top-notch set of semi-finalists so far, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United already through to the last-four stage, where they will be joined by either Arsenal or Crystal Palace.
A London derby with the Blues lies in wait for the winning team of the tie at the Emirates and Arsenal have the strength in depth to progress even if they rest some of their stars ahead of the busy Christmas programme.
The Gunners have not won this trophy since 1993, having lost to Man City on their last final appearance in 2018, while Palace have never got past the semi-finals.
Arsenal have had a pair of routine 2-0 victories over League One Port Vale and top-flight rivals Brighton so far in the competition, fielding a changed but capable line-up each time.
The Eagles squeezed through on penalties against Championship side Millwall before stunning Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield in the middle of the Reds’ major slump in late October.
Current form is more of an issue for Palace manager Oliver Glasner, as his team have lost their last two Premier League matches by three-goal margins against the Citizens and Leeds, and facing a young and hungry Gunners side at the Emirates is not an ideal situation in which to put things right.
The hosts have no shortage of high-quality fringe players who will be keen to catch the eye of manager Mikel Arteta and they are taken to win the game by at least two goals.
Madueke ready to make his mark
Eyebrows were raised when Noni Madueke moved across London to join Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer, but it is already looking a pretty smart investment by the Gunners.
The England international has yet to open his account in the Premier League for his new side, but he has scored three goals in their last two Champions League games against Bayern Munich and Club Brugge.
Having been an unused sub against Everton on Saturday, this looks an ideal opportunity for Madueke to start, enabling Bukayo Saka to be saved for the top-flight tests ahead.
Take the dangerous Madueke to either score or assist a goal in the game against a Palace side who have conceded nine goals in their last three games.
Eagles may not hold out for long
Palace have not had long to figure out their defensive issues since conceding four times at Leeds on Saturday. They were 2-0 down at half-time in that game and also trailed at half-time and full-time in their previous top-flight match against Man City.
The Arsenal-Arsenal Half-Time/Full Time is a solid basis for a bet builder on Tuesday’s EFL Cup quarter-final, which can be supplemented by being bold and taking Madueke to score.
Complete the bet by taking at least three goals to be scored in the game. Scores of 2-0 have been enough for Arsenal so far in this competition but, with the semi-finals in sight and spirits high, they will be keen to put on a show and have the talent to impress against a visiting defence that will be low on confidence.
