13.40 Ascot – Dance To The Music
The Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes must be one of few pattern races for juvenile fillies in Britain that’s yet to be won by Godolphin, but that looks set to change this weekend courtesy of Charlie Appleby’s impressive Newmarket novice winner, DANCE TO THE MUSIC.
Bred to be smart being a sister to the yard’s now retired globetrotting triple Group 1 winner Space Blues and a half-sister to four other scorers, including Shuruq, who won multiple Group races in the UAE, she made just about the perfect start to her career at Newmarket in May, overcoming some initial signs of greenness to score decisively ahead of the reopposing Eskimo Pie (second) and Midnight Tango (fourth).
It was a good performance at the time, but the form has an even stronger look to it now with the runner-up subsequently placed in Listed company at Sandown and finishing a highly commendable seventh of 23 in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, while Ed Walker’s Midnight Tango won a Hamiltion maiden next time before suffering a short-head defeat in a Listed race at Newmarket.

14.20 Ascot – Royal Dress
The stiff finish at Pontefract prompted a big performance from James Tate’s ROYAL DRESS in the Listed Pipalong Stakes earlier this month and a reproduction of that, on this not dissimilar uphill course, should see her come home in front in the Group 3 Valiant Stakes.
The daughter of Night Of Thunder improved dramatically when arriving from Richard Hannon at the start last season, aided by the addition of a hood, gaining a 33-1 victory in Listed company on her stable at Goodwood and a Group 3 success over 1m1f in the Meadow Court Stakes at The Curragh, again at generous odds.
She rather lost her way after that, but she was back to within 5lb of her best when winning at Pontefract last time and there’s reason to believe she can build on that in a race where she’s joint-top rated.

15.35 Ascot – Bullet Point
William Haggas’ BULLET POINT ran a blinder to finish a close second in the Hunt Cup over this course and distance at Royal Ascot last month, the four-year-old likely attempting the impossible when trying to give Roger Varian’s My Cloud 2lb.
There are no such handicap blots in opposition this time and he can get back to winning ways.
The son of Advertise has been on a real roll since going handicapping at the end of last season, rattling off a hat-trick at Newcastle and Newmarket (twice) prior to being caught close home by My Cloud, who at just 3-1, was the shortest priced favourite in the long and illustrious history of the Hunt Cup.
He’s been raised 3lb since his last run, meaning he’s now 26lb higher than when opening his account, but he’s still very much on the upgrade and is an uncomplicated ride. He goes on all types of ground, too.
