World Matchplay Darts Preview (Thursday, 8pm)
The World Matchplay quarter-finals begin tonight at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens. The Thursday evening schedule is headlined by favourite Luke Littler, who faces Josh Rock. Littler, who is the defending champion of the competition, managed to win 11-8 against Nathan Aspinall in the second round, hitting a nine-dart finish and managing the second-highest average in World Matchplay history. It will be his toughest test so far this evening as he takes on Josh Rock, who has managed two strong performances so far in Blackpool, beating Luke Woodhouse and Stephen Bunting.
The other match this evening sees Gary Anderson face Dirk van Duijvenbode. This is a proper mouth-watering tie as both have had fantastic tournaments so far. Anderson has been rolling back the years, beating Ryan Joyce 10-2 and then he managed an impressive victory against World No. 5 Jonny Clayton. Dirk van Duijvenbode comes into this quarter-final full of confidence after pulling off a huge 14-12 upset as he won against Michael van Gerwen in the last round. He also beat Chris Dobey 13-11. It should be an explosive match when both meet in the quarter-final.
