Premier League Preview

This weekend is crucial in the Premier League as we head into the final months of the season. The likes of West Ham, Spurs, Leeds and Nottingham Forest are embroiled in a relegation battle, whilst Arsenal and Man City are fighting for the title.

Check out our Premier League preview, which covers a couple of the big matches to help you when placing your bets on the football with Betfred.

Brighton vs Nottingham Forest (Sunday 2pm)

Brighton have endured a largely underwhelming campaign and currently sit 14th in the table, too far adrift to realistically challenge for Europe yet comfortably above the relegation zone. Even so, defeat here would drag them closer to trouble, particularly against a direct rival.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are in far more precarious circumstances, hovering just above the drop and struggling to string together positive results. While Vítor Pereira’s side have enjoyed a distraction in Europe, their priority must now be domestic survival.

With both teams lacking consistency and confidence, this fixture has the look of a stalemate. Brighton have developed a habit of drawing at home, with only Bournemouth recording more league draws this season, and six of the Seagulls’ home matches ending level. Three of their last five at the Amex have finished all square, while Forest have shared the points twice in their last five outings, including against Crystal Palace and Wolves.

Given the narrow projected goal difference between the sides, this appears an evenly matched contest in which a draw represents sensible value.

Fulham vs Tottenham (Sunday 2pm)

Tottenham’s 4-1 home defeat to Arsenal marked a disastrous start to Igor Tudor’s interim spell in charge, though the quick turnaround has offered some mitigation. Nevertheless, results must improve rapidly if Spurs are to avoid a genuine relegation battle. They currently sit just four points clear of 18th-placed West Ham and have lost their last three Premier League matches, with the threat of the drop growing with each setback.

Fulham’s home form suggests Tottenham will need to score to take anything from Craven Cottage, as the hosts have found the net in 12 of their 13 home games, the best record in the division by that measure. The reverse fixture ended in a 2-1 win for Fulham, and Tottenham’s defensive frailties continue to be exposed. They have conceded at least twice in each of their last eight domestic matches, including games against Bournemouth, West Ham, Burnley and Newcastle. If that trend persists, and with attacking options such as Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani capable of contributing at the other end, this encounter could produce plenty of goals.

Arsenal vs Chelsea (Sunday 4:30pm)

Arsenal’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Tottenham was not only convincing but crucial in maintaining their title momentum. North London derbies are rarely straightforward, so emerging from such a fixture with a dominant win underlined their credentials. The challenge now is to replicate that level in another London showdown, this time against Chelsea.

Arsenal have been formidable at the Emirates, winning ten of their 13 home league games and losing just once in that stretch. The stakes are high, particularly with Manchester City just six points behind and holding a game in hand, meaning any slip could prove costly. Viktor Gyokeres’ standout display against Spurs has added another dimension to Arsenal’s attack, complementing their defensive solidity and midfield control. The Swedish forward has reached double figures in the Premier League, becoming the first Arsenal player to do so this season. His ability to hold up play, link with teammates and threaten in behind was reminiscent of his prolific form at Sporting in Portugal. If he can sustain that level, Arsenal will be well-positioned to secure vital home victories, including this demanding clash with Chelsea.

Betting markets reveal relegation battle favourites

It is no shock to see Wolves and Burnley as the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League with UK betting sites, while Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Spurs and Leeds are also heavily involved in the battle to avoid the drop.

No one in the relegation dogfight is playing each other this weekend, meaning there’s a huge opportunity to move away from the bottom three if anyone can pick up a crucial three points.
