Premier League Preview
We are now treated to some Premier League action midweek following a big weekend of results that saw Arsenal and Man City win, whilst Nottingham Forest, Burnley, West Ham, Spurs and Leeds all lost.
With the relegation battle still providing a lot of drama, it feels like a big week for all those still involved.
Check out our Premier League preview, which covers a couple of the big matches to help you when placing your bets on the football with Betfred.
Bournemouth vs Brentford (Tuesday 7:30pm)
The Vitality Stadium plays host to a pivotal top-half clash this Tuesday as 10th-place Bournemouth take on 7th-place Brentford. Both sides are firmly in the hunt for European football, making this one of the most significant fixtures of the midweek round.
The Bees have been scoring for fun lately, but their defensive consistency away from home remains a major question mark, proven by the fact that they nearly capitulated against Burnley despite being three goals up. The Cherries, meanwhile, have become incredibly tough to beat on the south coast.
Leeds vs Sunderland (Tuesday 7:30pm)
Tuesday night sees a massive encounter at Elland Road as Leeds United host Sunderland in a battle between two of the Premier League’s most impressive newcomers.
Both sides have transitioned seamlessly since their promotions, and despite Sunderland having a better campaign, this upcoming match favours Daniel Farke’s side. Leeds have turned their home ground into a fortress, whilst Sunderland have massively struggled away from home. They have only managed two away wins all season.
Leeds are looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat at home to Man City; and they look ready to take all three points. They didn’t get the points against City, but their home performances against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, which saw them pick up some crucial points, emphasises how tough this match is going to be for Sunderland.
Man City vs Nottingham Forest (Wednesday 7:30pm)
Manchester City continue their pursuit of Arsenal this Wednesday and they welcome relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest to the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side looks to be back to their best, and defender Marc Guehi is a massive reason for that. City are looking for a fifth consecutive league win, but there are doubts over the fitness of Erling Haaland.
Forest, now under the guidance of Vitor Pereira, are struggling for any sort of consistency and they have historically found life difficult at Man City. Given City’s incredible form and Forest’s without a win in five games, backing Man City to win to nil or City -2 Handicap offers a strong betting angle for those looking beyond the short-priced outright markets.
Betting markets reveal relegation battle favourites
It is no shock to see Wolves and Burnley as the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League with UK betting sites, while Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Spurs and Leeds are also heavily involved in the battle to avoid the drop.
With none of the relegation battlers picking up points last weekend, there has not been a huge shift in the odds. More people are starting to think Spurs could actually go down, and they are currently priced at 5/1 to be relegated this season.
