Premier League Preview

Tuesday night’s Premier League action saw some big results, with Wolves and Everton picking up big wins. Arne Slot is now under more pressure after Liverpool’s loss at Molineux Stadium.

With the relegation battle still providing a lot of drama, it feels like a big couple of days for those still yet to play, including Spurs and West Ham, whilst Chelsea and Aston Villa could pick up a huge three points after Liverpool’s loss.

Check out our Premier League preview, which covers a few of the big matches to help you when placing your bets on the football with Betfred.

Man City vs Nottingham Forest (Tonight 7:30pm)

Manchester City continue their pursuit of Arsenal this Wednesday and they welcome relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest to the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side looks to be back to their best, and defender Marc Guehi is a massive reason for that. City are looking for a fifth consecutive league win, but there are doubts over the fitness of Erling Haaland.

Forest, now under the guidance of Vitor Pereira, are struggling for any sort of consistency and they have historically found life difficult at Man City. Given City’s incredible form and Forest’s without a win in five games, backing Man City to win to nil or City -2 Handicap offers a strong betting angle for those looking beyond the short-priced outright markets.

Arsenal vs Brighton (Tonight 7:30pm)

The title race heads to the Amex on Wednesday as league-leaders Arsenal take on a resurgent Brighton who have managed two wins in a row in their last two matches. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are in good form themselves, having dismantled both Spurs and Chelsea to maintain their five-point lead at the top of the table.

However, the trip south represents a potential banana skin; Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton have a history of upsetting the “Big Six”, whilst Arsenal are currently sweating on the fitness of midfield duo Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, both of whom are major doubts for this fixture. If the Seagulls can exploit those potential absences, they could provide the biggest twist yet in this year’s championship battle.

Newcastle vs Man United (Tonight 8:15pm)

Manchester United travel to Newcastle looking to extend their remarkable unbeaten run under Michael Carrick. The Red Devils have been the league’s comeback kings lately, most recently overturning a deficit to beat Crystal Palace 2-1. They face a Newcastle United side desperate to arrest a slump that has seen them lose five of their last six top-flight matches, including a frantic 3-2 defeat to Everton.

Despite their poor form, Eddie Howe’s Magpies have turned St James’ Park into a bogey ground for the visitors, who haven’t won a league game here since 2020. With Benjamin Sesko in red-hot form for the visitors and Newcastle’s desperate for points, this has all the makings of a classic North-East showdown.

Spurs vs Crystal Palace (Thursday 8pm)

Thursday night under the lights at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium brings a massive London derby with huge implications at the wrong end of the table. Igor Tudor’s Spurs are in absolute freefall, sitting in 16th and still searching for their first Premier League victory of 2026 following a miserable streak of defeats.

The atmosphere is incredibly tense, and they desperately need a result against a Crystal Palace side that are still looking over their shoulders. Oliver Glasner’s Eagles have shown moments of quality but are reeling slightly after a narrow weekend loss to Manchester United. With both teams fighting for consistency and positive results again and Palace missing the suspended Maxence Lacroix at the back, it’s a it feels like a pivotal moment for Spurs.

Betting markets reveal relegation battle favourites

It is no shock to see Wolves and Burnley as the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League with UK betting sites, while Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Spurs and Leeds are also heavily involved in the battle to avoid the drop.

Wolves have given themselves a slim chance after back-to-back wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool in their last two matches, whilst Leeds, who were 16/1, are now 9/1 to be relegated after they lost to Sunderland at Elland Road.

More people are starting to think Spurs could actually go down, and they are currently priced at 5/1 to be relegated this season.
