Clash looks destined to go beyond 90 minutes

Bournemouth halted Manchester City’s 15-game win streak against them when they secured a 2-1 victory in November’s home Premier League fixture.

That defeat also ended City’s 32-game unbeaten league run that stretched back as far as December 2023 and began a four-game losing trot that dropped the reigning champions out of title contention.

It was no fluke either because the Cherries dominated proceedings from the first whistle, forcing Ederson into a double save after just two minutes.

They took the lead through Antoine Semenyo after nine minutes and prevented a lifeless City side from registering a single shot on target until the 80th minute, by which time Evanilson had made it 2-0.

City cannot afford to turn up in the same lethargic mood on Sunday as they attempt to stay in the hunt for the last piece of silverware available to them this season.

Pep Guardiola should have learned some lessons from that Andoni Iraola masterclass and he can now call upon three of the new signings he made in January to revitalise his ageing side.

The visitors remain inconsistent, having lost at Nottingham Forest and drawn at home to Brighton in their last two games.

But they have a much better FA Cup pedigree than the Cherries, who are making only their third appearance in the quarter-finals.

Guardiola’s men have reached the final three times in the last six years and lifted the trophy on two of those occasions so they are used to do-or-die days like Sunday.

Bournemouth’s recent results suggest they have gone off the boil, but their performances have remained fairly consistent.

This clash is unlikely to be decided by which team scores first as both sides have been vulnerable in defence and capable of mounting comebacks.

It could be a classic contest where the winner is not decided in the 90 minutes. Bournemouth needed penalties to see off Wolves in the fifth round and it would be no shock to see honours even after normal time again.

The attacking talent on show also means it is unlikely to be goalless either with the 2-4 goal range covering the potential of these teams finishing level at 1-1 or 2-2.

Bournemouth vs Manchester City Tip 1: Results/Goal Range – Draw & 2-4 Yes @ 15/4 with bet365

Kerkez’s enterprise can stun City again

Milos Kerkez assisted both of Bournemouth’s goals in the corresponding league game and the Hungarian international will be primed to play a leading role again.

The left-back has registered assists in two of his last three league appearances and looks overpriced in the betting to set up a Bournemouth goal on Sunday.

Bournemouth vs Manchester City Tip 2: Milos Kerkez to assist @ 9/1 with bet365

Gonzalez has got to get a grip in midfield

Guardiola’s side have got to get a grip of the midfield on Sunday and the City boss could turn to new signing Nico Gonzalez while Rodri remains not quite fit enough to start.

Gonzalez has not been shy to put a foot in since he moved to Manchester and has committed at least two fouls in each of his last three starts.

Add Erling Haaland to register two or more shots on target into a Bet Builder because although the Norwegian’s tally of 21 league goals is nowhere near his previous two season tallies of 36 and 28, he has already recorded a personal best for shots on target.

Haaland’s 54 efforts on target have come with a much improved shot on target ratio of 54.5%, around 10% better than each of his first two Premier League campaigns.

And finally, include both teams to score in the second half to boost the odds further. Both teams have scored in Bournemouth’s last four games while City have only failed to score in three of 22 away games in all competitions this term. Both teams have scored in the second half of three of their last four meetings.

Bournemouth vs Manchester City Tip 3: Bet Builder: Nico Gonzalez to commit 2+ Fouls, Erling Haaland 2+ Shots on target and Both Teams to Score in the 2nd Half – Yes @ 7/1 with bet365
