Day one of the weekend Lincoln Meeting at Doncaster is the home of the Cammidge Trophy Stakes, one of the most competitive Listed sprints at the famous Yorkshire venue in the opening half of the season.
Run over 6f, the Cammidge Trophy Stakes typically goes to an improving sort with their best days in front of them – the perfect example being last year’s winner Montassib, who went on to win the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock later in the year.
A field of nine has been declared for Saturday’s race and our expert has picked out a pair to follow.

James’s can Delight punters with a facile win
Last seen finishing eighth of 20 and beaten around four-lengths in the Group 1 Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot in October, James’s Delight should be well up to landing this Listed contest on his return to action.
Clive Cox’s four-year-old son of Invincible Army had a fine season last year, winning four times, all over 6f. He won a Pontefract handicap off a mark of 88 on his return and defied an 11lb higher mark at Newmarket a month later.
In June, the booking of Ryan Moore was ominous and although he seemingly had a lot to do from a rating of 102, he won a valuable York handicap in the manner of a very classy horse, before following up in Listed grade a month later at Deauville.
Runner-up to Spycatcher next time at Deauville in August, he rounded off his campaign with that fine effort at Ascot, and he has won fresh twice in his career already (including on debut) so there will be no fitness concerns here.

Marshman won’t go down without a big fight
Karl Burke is usually always good for a big Saturday once the Flat season arrives, and although he has to concede a good bit of weight to James’s Delight, Marshman won’t go down without a fight here.
The five-time winner was beaten only a neck behind Montassib in this contest on his return last year and that winner gave the form an almighty boost as he went on to win the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock later in the season.
Marshman went off the boil for a while after that effort but he bounced back to win an all-weather handicap at Newcastle off a mark of 102 in January, which was his first run after a wind operation.
He followed up in Listed grade at Lingfield last month and was beaten only half a length in the same sort of company when last seen at Southwell. Burke clearly has him in fine fettle at present and he is a live danger.
