Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Betting Tips
Canelo Alvarez Alvarez and Terence Crawford do battle in a generational super-middleweight clash in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Canelo’s undisputed 168lbs crown will be on the line against a former two-weight four-belt champion and there is an opportunity for one of boxing’s great performers to cement their legacy.
Terence Crawford can prove himself an all-time great
Terence Crawford is a former undisputed light-welterweight and welterweight champion and the undefeated American can become a three-weight undisputed king in Las Vegas this weekend.
The 37-year-old is a supremely gifted fighter, who have won all of his 41 professional contests, but such is the Nebraska man’s talents, even that phenomenal record doesn’t do him credit.
Crawford has movement to dazzle, almost unrivaled punch variety, he carries power and the 37-year-old is an incredibly hard fighter to hit.
It’s not all smoke and mirrors with the American either, the record is there to back it up.
In his last five fights, Bud has beaten Israil Madrimov, Errol Spence Jr, David Avanesyan, Shawn Porter and Kell Brook in his last five fights.
You could go through that list and pick holes in the form, but Spence is a former unified world champion, Porter is a two-time ruler of the world, Brook was a welterweight champ and Madrimov and Avanesyan are top-level performers.
Of course, Canelo has excellent wins in his career, but perhaps not as recent as what is on Crawford’s card.
Since the Mexican was beaten by Dmitry Bivol in 2022, a loss that was all too easily explained away by a step up in weight, the 35-year-old has recorded wins over Gennadiy Golovkin, John Ryder, Jermell Charlo, Jaime Munguia, Edgar Berlanga and William Scull
Golovkin is the standout name on that list, but he was past his best when tackling the Guadalajara fighter and the other names on that list stand up to little scrutiny.
Ryder was game, but not a top-level fighter, Charlo was not a super-middleweight and retired following his loss to Alvarez, Munguia has since been beaten by Bruno Surace and Berlanga was destroyed by Hamzah Sheeraz.
The less said about the contest against Scull, in which Canelo was the 1/66 favourite the better, and there is very little recent form that suggests the Mexican should be the strong jolly against Crawford.
Of course, weight is seen as a huge advantage for the 35-year-old, but that seems a small price to pay when backing Crawford, knowing you have arguably the best boxer on the planet in your corner.
Bud looks worth a gamble in Las Vegas and the 37-year-old can prove himself an all-time great in victory.

Hard to see fight going the distance
The Las Vegas contest is expected to go the distance, but that doesn’t look as certain as the prices suggest.
For all that Canelo and Crawford have had brilliant careers, this is still a bout between a 35-year-old and a 37-year-old and punch resistance will not be what it was.
Bud has the skills to outbox and outmove Alvarez, but the Mexican will be well aware of this and it’s unlikely that the Guadalajara fighter will allow the American to skip around the ring and dominate the contest.
The two greats could meet head on at the Allegiant Stadium and it could pay to back the bout to end before the final bell.
