Chelsea vs Arsenal Betting Tips and Predictions
Our betting expert has three tips for the EFL Cup semi-final first leg between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday (kick-off 8.00pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- Chelsea to win @ 9/4
- Pedro Neto to score or assist @ 7/4
- BetBuilder: Under 10 Corners, Over 2 Chelsea Cards, Enzo Fernandez 1+ Shots on Target @ 6/1
Rosenior to make statement start at the Bridge
Liam Rosenior’s first game in charge of Chelsea ended in a resounding cup win away from home.
Now take him to follow that up with an even more impressive cup success at home as Stamford Bridge welcomes their new manager for the first time.
Rosenior watched Chelsea win well in the FA Cup on Saturday, a 5-1 victory at Championship side Charlton with the newly installed Blues’ boss able to make a few changes and still see his team produce a fine performance.
Twenty-four hours later Arsenal went to Championship opposition in the same competition – Portsmouth – and were also impressive coming from behind to win 4-1. Mikel Arteta, like Rosenior, made plenty of changes.
And they made those tweaks with this tie in mind, the first leg of an EFL Cup semi-final in which Chelsea have to like their chances at a nice price.
When these teams met at the Bridge in the Premier League it was Chelsea on top until Moises Caicedo’s 38th-minute red card, and even after that they thoroughly deserved the point they got from the 1-1 draw.
Chelsea have been far too inconsistent but Arsenal have still dealing with injuries in certain areas, were not impressive pipping Palace in the last round and were pretty poor last week in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
Chelsea need something from the home leg to take back to North London and back them, revived and uplifted with a new man in the dugout, to deliver that first-leg success.
Neto’s in top nick and ready to add to goal tally
Pedro Neto was a constant menace when Chelsea entertained Arsenal in the Premier League in November, firing off three shots – as many as anyone else – in that 1-1 draw.
Arsenal’s defence is still missing a couple of players and Neto will be a key to unlocking it.
The Portuguese former Wolves ace has scored seven goals this season, including off the bench at Charlton on Saturday.
He also has three assists and having been used sparingly at The Valley, expect Neto to be fresh and set to either score or assist against the Gunners.

Corners not guaranteed in eagerly-awaited tussle
There were six corners when these sides played out that 1-1 draw in the Premier League at the end of November.
Chelsea give up an average of just 3.7 corners per game at the Bridge in the League, Arsenal the same away from home.
To that end, make under 10 match corners part one of a bet builder, playing to the idea that this won’t be a gung-ho affair with the second leg still to come.
What there may very well be is cards, given that Chelsea are the bad boys of the top division.
They have picked up 47 yellows and five reds in the league this season and while Liam Rosenior may wish to temper such indiscipline, that won’t be an overnight job.
Make Over 2.0 Chelsea cards part two of the treble, with Enzo Fernandez to have at least one shot on target the third leg.
Six-goal Fernandez averages 2.1 shots per game in the League and is a constant threat around the edge of the box.
