FIFA Club World Cup predictions & tips
Football fans are eagerly anticipating the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, with excitement building around both the new format and the chance to watch some of the world’s top talent compete.
This expanded FIFA Club World Cup features 32 clubs, split into eight groups of four. Taking place over 29 days in the United States, a total of 64 matches will be played. The top two teams from each group will move on to the last 16 knockout stage, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final, which is set to take place in New Jersey on 13th July.
Pep ready to start City transition
Manchester City endured a frustrating 2024-25 campaign, ending the season without a trophy. Determined to bounce back, they’ve wasted no time in the transfer market, adding Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders to their squad since the Premier League season wrapped up.
It’s not yet clear how involved the new arrivals will be at the FIFA Club World Cup, but for the existing squad, the message is simple – perform in the US or risk being left behind in what’s shaping up to be a summer rebuild.
One player who is expected to be central to City’s hopes is Rodri. Now fully fit after recovering from an ACL injury, the Ballon d’Or winner returns at the perfect time for Pep Guardiola.
City have been drawn in Group G alongside Juventus, UAE champions Al Ain and Moroccan side Wydad AC. It’s a group Guardiola will expect his side to top comfortably, and should they do so, a likely quarter-final meeting with the runner-up from Group H – Al-Hilal, Pachuca or Red Bull Salzburg – awaits.

Simone will have Atletico well prepared
The European teams look well set to challenge for the trophy and one of those at a bigger price to go deep in the tournament is Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish giants look good to qualify from Group B, which includes Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, Brazil’s Botafogo and Seattle Sounders.
Not many managers will know more about the South American opposition than Diego Simeone and, as ever, his side will be a tough nut to crack. If they do finish in the top two, Atletico will expect to make the quarter finals with a last-16 encounter against a team from Group A – either Porto, Palmeiras, Al Alhy or Inter Miami.

Inter ace Thuram playing with confidence
The form of Marcus Thuram was one of the main reasons for Inter Milan’s run to the Champions League final.
As well as the four goals in Europe, the French international bagged 14 in Serie A, highlighting his quality in and around the opposition penalty area.
Thuram has formed a strong partnership with Lautaro Martinez, but with fitness concerns over the Argentinian forward, the former Borussia Monchengladbach man may need to take up the role as Inter’s main goal supplier.
