Ronaldo is no doubt one of the greatest footballers of all time, and he shows no signs of retiring despite being the age of 40. The Portuguese international has managed over 790 goals and over 240 assists in his 1054 appearances at club level. Is Ronaldo going to the Club World Cup?
Ronaldo’s contract at Al-Nassr expires this summer and it looks like he will not sign a new deal at the club. They are not participating in the Club World Cup and this looks to be a key factor for the two parties parting ways. With the Club World Cup starting on June 15th, there is definitely some time for Ronaldo to move to a club taking part in the competition.
The current favourites to sign Cristiano Ronaldo are Los Angeles FC and Al Hilal Riyadh. These teams are both going to the Club World Cup so it looks more than likely that Ronaldo will be playing in the Club World Cup.
bet365’s Sports and Trading expert Steve Freeth spoke about Ronaldo’s potential new club and whether the forward will be going to the World Cup. He said: “The Club World Cup is just around the corner and with the organisers undoubtedly looking for a headline act and with the player showing no signs of hanging his boots up, it would be just like Ronaldo to enter the stage in the United States next month.
“The big question, and a puzzler for our traders, is which club will he represent, especially as we’ve set the date for 14th June, the start of the tournament, while his existing contract doesn’t expire until the end of the month.
“Seeing Ronaldo and Messi in tandem for Inter Miami would be something special, while Sergio Ramos is at Monterrey and could also be an attractive proposition.
“Either way, Cristiano Ronaldo remains box office.”
Whoever signs Ronaldo will no doubt bring millions of new fans to their club and many will be hoping that he will play in the Club World Cup this summer.
