Villa catching Palace at the right time
A combination of missing players, a packed fixture list and speculation over their manager, Oliver Glasner, can be attributed to Palace’s recent poor form.
The Eagles have slipped to 14th in the league after failing to win any of their last five games, their latest defeat coming at Newcastle on Sunday.
Ismaila Sarr is still away on international duty, while Jefferson Lerma and Nathanial Clyne picked up injuries in defeat at St James’ Park, giving Glasner further selection headaches.
In contrast, things seem to be going Villa’s way at the moment, with all their key players healthy and the squad heading to south London having won nine of their last 10 league games.
Palace are unbeaten in their last six matches against Villa, but Unai Emery’s men are full of confidence and will be determined to avenge their 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.

Rogers holds the key to Villa success
If the season awards were handed out in early January, Morgan Rogers would be in contention for the major accolades.
The England international has been inspirational over the last three months, scoring seven times and creating four assists in the league.
Rogers is targeting a starting role in the Three Lions’ World Cup side and on current form, there is every chance Thomas Tuchel will look to utilise the Villa ace.
It’s worth noting that the 23-year-old scored in this fixture last season, when Villa lost 4-1 back in February.

Goals look on the cards
Villa are currently the joint fourth top-scorers in the Premier League, with Emery’s squad finding the net 33 times.
That is made all the more impressive by the fact that they didn’t score in any of their first four league matches.
Although the results have been impressive, the visitors have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight fixtures across all competitions.
Neither of these two teams features particularly highly in the top-flight card stats, with Palace racking up a yellow card average of 1.8 per game and Villa just 1.6.
Another key figure for third-placed Villa has been Emi Buendia, who has worked his way back into Emery’s plans.
The former Getafe and Norwich man has been all action this season and that includes giving away free-kicks.
Buendia ranks 11th in the Premier League for committing fouls, averaging 2.2 per game.
