Palace can’t be underestimated
While Premier League champions Liverpool are the unsurprising favourites to win Sunday’s Community Shield, it would be foolish to rule out Crystal Palace causing an upset.
Oliver Glasner’s side were underdogs in their FA Cup final against Manchester City but managed to stun Pep Guardiola’s star-studded side at Wembley with a 1-0 victory.
The Eagles did have to ride their luck at times against the Cityzens, but in the end it was Eberechi Eze’s goal that saw Palace end their wait for a major trophy.
The Londoners have shown they can be a match for any side and have a decent recent record against Liverpool.
Losing just two of their last six games against the Reds, Palace have won one and drawn three encounters with the Merseyside outfit in that time.
Looking to at least take this Community Shield into extra-time, Palace are well priced in the double chance market here.

A cagey affair expected at Wembley
Potential rustiness in attack and the determination to make sure neither side are out of the game in the early stages, a somewhat cagey encounter might well be on the cards this weekend.
Community Shield games don’t tend to be blessed with a litter of goals, as the recent record in this match shows.
Four of the last six Community Shields have ended 1-1 and have gone on to penalties after a nail-biting extra-time.
Under 2.5 total goals would have landed in seven of the last eight Community Shields and that trend might well continue this weekend in the capital.
- Crystal Palace vs Liverpool tip 2: Under 2.5 total goals @ 21/20 with talkSPORT BET
- Generous and easy to follow welcome offer
- Existing customer offers include prediction games & Best Odds Guaranteed
Expect work for both keepers on Sunday
While goals might be at a premium on Sunday, these are two attacking teams who are more than capable of creating a host of chances.
Liverpool topped the charts last season with the most shots on target per game in the Premier League with 6.1, while Palace were joint-six with 4.9.
Last season’s golden boot winner Mohamed Salah had 104 total shots last season in the league and is backed to hit the target on Sunday, along with talented new arrivals Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr had 102 shots at goal between them in the Premier League last season and the pair are also back to test the keeper on Sunday in this eye-catching Bet Builder boosted to odds of 11/1.
