Injuries mounting at the worst time for the Eagles

A lot of this weekend’s attention will be on the Stadium of Light as Sunderland host Newcastle United, but another game at 2pm on Sunday could steal the limelight.

Heading into the weekend, Crystal Palace are fourth and only five points behind second-placed Manchester City, who are on 31 points.

The Eagles have somehow managed to compete on numerous fronts despite their congested fixture list due to their participation in the Conference League.

After losing back-to-back games at the end of November to Strasbourg and Manchester United, Palace have responded by winning three matches on the spin.

They were in action on Thursday as they cruised past Shelbourne 3-0 and they will expect to score against City, having done so in their last five head-to-head meetings.

The Citizens have only kept two clean sheets in their last 10 games, but there are signs that Palace are going to find this game a step too far.

Right-back Daniel Munoz is out for the next month due to a knee injury, while Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr are both carrying knocks. Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are also sidelined.

Without Munoz’s energy, Palace may struggle to flow as a team and City have the class to overcome this challenge.

Pep Guardiola’s men have won four in a row, scoring at least two goals in each of those ties and they should be able rack up the goals, having scored at least two in their last two visits to Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City tip 1: Manchester City to win and both teams to score @ 12/5

History to repeat itself

Games between these two teams have stolen the limelight in recent years and Palace have become a bit of a bogey team for City.

The Eagles won the FA Cup final in May against the Citizens, but that was only a 1-0 success and it was a rarity for this fixture.

There have been at least four goals scored in this fixture in five of the last seven head-to-head encounters and both teams will have every faith they can find the back of the net on multiple occasions.

City lead the division in terms of goals scored with 35 and they have shipped 16, the highest total of any team in the top five.

Guardiola’s team lead the league in terms of xG as well, but Palace are fifth in that category, suggesting both teams create enough chances to ensure we get another mouthwatering tie this weekend.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City tip 2: Over 3.5 goals @ 13/8

Foden to maintain recent form

After a quiet 12 months, midfielder Phil Foden looks back to his best. He has picked up one assist and five goals in his last four appearances in all competitions, so he’s a consistent option for the BetBuilder.

Team-mate Nico Gonzalez should throw himself about, having conceded at least two fouls in four consecutive appearances.

Palace midfielder Daichi Kamada has conceded at least one foul in his last six outings and nine of his previous 10 appearances.

Fellow Eagles midfielder Yeremy Pino has the skills to win several free-kicks and he has been fouled at least twice in seven of his 15 appearances in all competitions.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City tip 3: Phil Foden to score or assist, Nico Gonzalez 2+ fouls committed, Daichi Kamada 1+ foul committed, Yeremy Pino 2+ fouls won @ 13/2
