Di Marzio on Summer Moves: City Eye Cambiaso, United Want Branthwaite, Liverpool Track Robinson

Updated on

With the summer transfer window creeping closer, the rumour mill is heating up as Premier League clubs begin plotting their squad reshuffles for next season. We caught up with transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who offered exclusive insights into potential moves for several top-flight sides.

Manchester City – Cambiaso and Luiz on Pep’s Radar

Following a stuttering campaign, Manchester City are preparing to continue the squad overhaul that began in January. A number of departures are expected as Pep Guardiola seeks to build a squad who are able to reclaim the Premier League title.

One name drawing serious attention is Juventus’ versatile full-back Andrea Cambiaso. According to Di Marzio, City came close to making a move earlier this year, and they are expected to return this summer.

“City tried to get Cambiaso from Juventus in January but didn’t make an official offer. He’s considered by City and Pep as one of the potential signings at full back. He can play right and left in an offensive way. Juventus need to sell players, so City will come back. He’s on their list.”

With Josko Gvardiol returning to his natural centre-back role and youngster Nico O’Reilly having to fill in at left-back recently, Cambiaso could offer a more stable long-term solution on either flank.

City are also monitoring Douglas Luiz, now at Juventus after a spell at Aston Villa. Di Marzio hinted that a return to the Premier League could be on the cards for the Brazilian midfielder.

“City might come for Douglas Luiz from Juventus too. They tried a loan in January. Luiz didn’t manage to demonstrate his value in Serie A but he showed his ability in the Premier League. City tend to monitor players for a long time before making a move.”

Manchester United and Tottenham in Branthwaite Race

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is another name being linked with a summer switch, with both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur showing serious interest. United saw previous approaches rebuffed, but are expected to reignite their interest under new boss Ruben Amorim.

“We have to wait to see if Tottenham change their manager. Every manager has specific signings they want to make. Manchester United will continue with Amorim, so they are interested in him. There’s no likely club just yet—but there’s a lot of interest.”

United and Chelsea Tracking Rising Star Liam Delap

Liam Delap’s breakout season has not gone unnoticed either. The young striker has netted 12 goals in 31 Premier League appearances, and reportedly has a £30m relegation release clause in his contract.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are said to be keen, with Arsenal, Spurs, and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen also keeping tabs.

“He has a lot of big Premier League clubs interested—but right now, it’s only potential interest. It’s early. He’s on the list of Arsenal, Tottenham, United—and even Dortmund and Leverkusen.”

With both United and Chelsea desperate for a reliable number nine, Delap could be one of the window’s more sought-after talents.

Liverpool’s Antonee Robinson Interest Gathers Pace

Premier League leaders Liverpool are expected to strengthen in several areas as they prepare for a big summer under Arne Slot. One player on the club’s radar is Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, who has impressed with his consistent performances this term in what’s been a great season for the West London club.

“Liverpool are studying Robinson a lot, and they have good references about him. I am not sure they will sign him, but they are very interested.”

Robinson’s energy, athleticism, and Premier League experience make him a strong fit for Slot’s high-tempo system should the Reds decide to push forward with a formal bid.
