Defending champions can prevail again
It is rare that two crops of Under-21 players are so talented in back-to-back tournaments, but that is the luxury position England find themselves in and the Young Lions can justify slight favouritism by beating Germany in Saturday’s final to replicate the feat of their predecessors in 2023.
Many will be quick to point out that Germany beat England in the group stage, but that came when Lee Carsley was still experimenting with his team, playing without a recognised striker and starting just two natural defenders in that 2-1 defeat.
The Young Lions have hit a new level with a more settled starting XI in the knockout stages, however, beating joint-favourites Spain before dispatching the Netherlands 2-1 in the semi-finals – allowing the Dutch to accumulate just 0.15 expected goals in that tie. Germany will give their all, but Carsley has been here before and has the nous to oversee another Under-21 Euro triumph.

Tricky Trees talent to shine in Bratislava
Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott has stolen the show for England, netting four goals including a brace in the semi-final victory over the Netherlands, but it is his semi-namesake who is fancied to be the Young Lions’ star in the final.
Elliot Anderson netted England’s winner from the penalty spot against Spain in the quarter-finals and then provided a crucial assist for Elliott’s opener in the semi-final victory over the Dutch. The powerful midfielder has a knack for arriving in the box at the right time and it would be no surprise to see him have a big impact on proceedings in Bratislava

Germany should have enough to net in defeat
While England rate the better of the two sides, it would be a major surprise to see a Germany team who have outscored the Young Lions 15-10 in Slovakia and scored at least two times in each of their matches, fail to find the net in the final.
Nick Woltemade is a huge reason for their success, with the Stuttgart giant netting six goals in four appearances at the tournament. It could be tempting to back the forward to score, but he may find life tough against a centre-back pairing of Jarell Quansah and Charlie Cresswell, and playing safe by backing him to have a shot on target could be a smarter move.
Round out your Bet Builder by backing attacking threat Anderson to be involved on the defensive end, too. The Forest battler has been booked five times in his last seven starts and is a big price to pick up a card in the final.
