Sweden growing stronger in the market
Eurovision fever is back again with the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest Final taking place in Basel, Switzerland on Saturday night and if bookmakers are correct there will be a familiar nation on top of the famous leaderboard.
Sweden are favourites as they look to secure a record-breaking eighth victory in the competition and KAJ’s quirky song Bara Bad Basta is now odds-on after successfully coming through Tuesday’s first semi-final.
The Swedes have also been handed a dream late draw in the running order for the final. They will perform 23rd of the 26 acts and history suggests that is a major advantage.
Sweden’s victory after performing ninth two years ago was the only time the winning artist has had a single-figure draw in the last 20 years.
Switzerland won from 21st last year, Italy’s 2021 success came after they performed 24th, while Israel had been 22nd on stage when they won in 2018.
A late draw didn’t just help the winner last year either, as runners-up Croatia sang 23rd and fourth-placed France were the penultimate act of the show.
Sweden’s entry could not be further removed from previous winners Abba and Loreen as it’s really just a novelty act, a fun sing-a-long song about saunas, performed by three Finns.
However, there’s no denying their dominance of the pre-event fan polls or their strength in the betting market and favourite-backers may not have much of a sweat before collecting on the Swedish sauna song.

Finland coming into contention
One of the most taking performances of the second Eurovision semi-final was from Finland’s power-packed performer Erika Vikman, who got a great reception from the crowd for her song Ich Komme.
It was enough to see the song become the fifth favourite in the market and it looks to have a strong each-way chance for a nation that last won in 2006 with memorable rock act Lordi.
Finland went close two years ago when Kaarija was second and Vikman looks capable of challenging at the top of the leaderboard at generous odds.
A mid-show draw of 13th is not perfect, but it’s away from the dreaded single-figures and four acts have won from 11th or 12th in the last decade.

Germany primed for rare Eurovision success
Germany’s Eurovision record includes two huge winning songs from Nicole in 1982 and Lena in 2010, but they have really been struggling in recent times and last year’s 12th place represented a major improvement after they had finished 25th or 26th in the previous four editions.
They look capable of securing their first top-10 finish since 2018 on Saturday night with a strong contender in the punchy song Baller by Abor and Tynna.
Drawn reasonably well in 16th, it could help to see the big-five nation challenging again.
UK entry Remember Monday with What The Hell Just Happened? looks up against it from a single-figure draw in eighth and performing immediately before second-favourites Austria.
