Things started quite brightly for Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with three wins and two draws in their first five league and cup outings, but it has gone a bit sour since, with six defeats and just two wins in the last 10 by the Merseyside docks for David Moyes’ side.
They have lost five of their last nine Premier League home games and the sight of Man Utd rolling up won’t spark great confidence, despite the Toffees’ 1-0 win at Old Trafford in November.
That was very much a smash and grab for the 10-man visitors and the Red Devils have more away wins (19) and more wins overall (42) against Everton than any team has against another in Premier League history.
There have been over 2.5 goals in the last three meetings on Merseyside, with United scoring at least twice in five of their last six trips to Goodison Park, gathering four wins.
United’s nine-game unbeaten Premier League run has yielded just three clean sheets and this could be set up for an entertaining win for Michael Carrick’s rejuvenated side after two 3-2 wins in their last four games.

Fernandes to lead by example
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s goal just before the half-hour was the matchwinner at Old Trafford in November as Everton somehow survived Idrissa Gueye’s early red card for a clash with team-mate Michael Keane.
United will be eager for revenge and their record tally of wins over the Toffees in Premier League combat bodes well.

Sesko have the final say again
Big-money summer arrival Benjamin Sesko is starting to find his feet at United, having now scored five goals in his last six games despite earning just two starts in the Red Devils’ previous seven in league and cup.
Sesko got both goals away at Burnley last month and more recently he came up with a stoppage-time winner against Fulham at Old Trafford and a 96th-minute leveller at West Ham that maintained Carrick’s unbeaten run as interim boss.
With Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha also impressing in United’s forward unit, Sesko’s scoring form is no guarantee he will earn a start, but the 22-year-old Slovenian should get his game-time again and he’s developing a nice habit of scoring late goals.
